Hey you guys, so last year with my thermostat debacle I ended up snapping a bolt on the condenser. Didn't really care because it was getting cooler and I just wanted to drive my g finally. So now it's steadily getting warm and now I want to fix it. I don't want to go through the hassle of removing the rad and ac condenser so I want to know what's my odds of successfully drilling out this bolt and how would you do it ?
I literally did the same exact thing to mine. Screw head broke off flush when trying to remove it with a screw driver. I drilled the entire thing out and put a long bolt with a lock washer on it. Currently I'm here trying to figure out how to fix the M10 bolt that goes through the idler pulley bracket, through the front and rear timing cover and into the block without having to take everything apart again and more... Didn't even get close to the torque spec when I was tightening it... Turning smoothly and easily for way too long pulled the bolt back out and half the threads came out with it. These things are fragile as all hell.
I agree, I ended up replacing the rad and condenser because I didn't want to deal with the hassle
I considered doing the same but figure I'd just try drilling it out since im stuck at home with nowhere to go anyway. In order to fix what I'm dealing with now I'd have to remove the front timing cover, chains, cam sprockets, rear timing cover and then drill out and put a helicoil in. I managed to get some of the threads remaining further down to bite so i put loctite on it and torqued it lightly by hand and I'm just going to try and leave it like that lol. So over this ****.
