There’s nothing to listen to (at least on my end, my internets been shoddy for a few days now) but if it’s a grinding noise then I’d assume the cv is toast. If we could hear it maybe we could tell more

Do you hear a loud clicking noise when your make sharp turns under throttle? Most outer CV joints will:
1) click when turning under power; and/or
2) vibrate when traveling straight at speed (similar to a wheel bearing failing); and/or
3) make a "crunching" noise as the wheel spins.

Alternatively, inner CV joints will make a loud thud/clunk noise as the suspension travels and as the engine load changes, just FYI.

Hard to really discern from the video but the sound could be the ball bearings "grinding" against the inner and outer races. As a test, if you have any grease laying around you can try packing the joint and see if the sound eases.

Either way you know the axle has to be repaired/replaced. Once the rubber boots tear, it does not take much time for the grease to leak out and for dirt to contaminate the joint. Without grease, the joint becomes scorched and will eventually "pop."

Typically, it is easier- and cheaper- to replace the axle "half shaft" than it is to rebuild the CV joint. Take it from my experience, rebuilding CV joints is the mother of all pains in the aşş. Been there, done that more times than I care to remember...

ILM is right, it is hard to tell from the video. IMO I’d go ahead and replace the half shaft and go from there. If the noise is gone, sweet! If not then I would look at other bearings.

I should note I’ve never heard this noise on my car, I get the clicking that there is a TSB out for the cv splines bonding slightly.
