Used turbos
I really don't want to keep it stock, I'd like to build it up. I got friends with built up stuff, lowered 71 c10 running 13s, turbo Jetta running 12.5. the g ain't slow but I'd like to get more out it. If I get money for Christmas I might be able to get a Sprint booster.
Invest in full bolt-ons and a tune. My set-up is $1,500 all in. 315whp/262ft lb tq. More than enough there to hit your goal. I'm AWD with the 7AT as well so if your car is the RWD version your ceiling is a bit higher.
If you have a 7AT, and you're looking to do a budget build, then forget it. The AT is only going to hold 300 ft. lbs. tq. before needing a rebuild. Looking at $2-3k for that. Unless you have a ton of knowledge with FI builds then you should reconsider...A legit set-up is the only way to do it and even then, stock VQs do not like boost; the number of blown motors far outweighs the number of blocks still in one piece. I've only seen a few guys on here run high power figures on the stock motor and it's usually guys with a ton of experience and with a knowledgeable group around them.

Come on, Man.

Who cares? You've got a fine car with respectable power... comparing it to a boosted Jetta is pretty silly.
I just looked at your profile and realized you're 19. It's a fun time, being a teenager with a decent car. But Billy, you're not going to make that G any faster with a few hundred dollars in Xmas gifts. I think you ought to research an aftermarket cat-back that fits your budget, plan it out over the next 6 months or however long it takes to collect those funds, then enjoy the noise. It won't be any faster really, but it will be fun.
I'm not trying to age-shame you, Bill, just offering advice. You went from exhaust plans to a junkyard turbo to a Sprint Booster in just a few days. A freaking Sprint Booster! Anyway, it reads like you need some advice.

I'll look into bolt on stuff. I know the sprint booster is throttle response, not any extra HP. I know more about make and model stuff with cars than mechanical. I could tell you a 71 mach 1 but I have no idea how to work on stuff. I get what you're saying about being young, it's fun having a nice car and driving fast. My friend did that turbo set up himself and I kinda feel left out when it comes to stuff like that.
You'll be alright, learn the basics of installing your own exhaust, CAIs, etc... You're trying to sprint before you've learned to crawl. That's only going to lead to issues ($$$). If you want to go boost, save up a couple thousand and pick up a project car in a few years. It won't be your daily so if you have to leave it taken apart for a week you can still make it to work. Keep the G as a comfortable and reliable DD with a bit of zip.
I thought about getting a cheap c3 Vette for that but don't have driveway space. My moms Forester and my dad's Altima in the garage, my sisters crv and my G37 in the driveway. There's no way I'm parking a Corvette on the street, even in a nice neighborhood
Should have started modding education with a less expensive / simpler car, more left in the budget for mods and less to break. The VQ37VHR is pretty strung out as it is.
For turbo setups - if you're just asking how big of a turbo do I need, you're asking the wrong questions. Its like saying "I have a V-8, what size tires do I need".
Exhaust manifold volume and design, intake plenum including intercooler volume, intercooler design, engine size/compression/available fuel are going to dictate VE numbers that you can look up in a turbocharger's compressor map. Find a map that suits your engine's performance profile and doesn't overspool or surge.
That level of engineering is why turbo installs on the VQ are so expensive. You can't just weld some schedule 40 pipe to a flange, slap a turbo on there, and increase the fuel pressure and watch the AFR gauge to make sure it's all good (I have personally done that with a Miata 1.8, and it worked, but had mixed results).
Infiniti/Nissan did a lot of efficiency maximization on this drivetrain. You are not going to find off-the-shelf parts for another car that do much better for a VQ.
The normal NA modding route of exhaust, HFCs, intake, tune, maybe the VQ35 manifold will be expensive enough.
Or you could drop a 200hp shot of nitrous on it. If you do that, I'd like to put in some pre-orders for when you part the car out.
