Misfire reading with torque pro app

He guys what's up, I'm having some issues and could really use some advice. The other day my car went into limp mode because of cylinder 6 having a misfire, I brought it to my mechanic who changed out the spark plug n the car runs fine now (had all 6 spark plugs replaced about 15,000 miles back just for preventive maintenance). I decided to run a test using the torque pro app. I took a drive up to bear mountain ( about 1hr away) while the app was doing its thing n guess what I had a few misfire on cylinder 6. The whole ride the car ran beautifully, there n back. I felt nothing as in a misfire. I'm no pro when it comes to reading the torque app other than the basic so im asking for someone to tell me exactly what I'm looking at n if I should be worried. Only "EWMA misfire counts $0b" show any misfires. Thanks in advance.

Any possibility you've got a coil pack starting to fail?

Its VERY possible the coil pack could be going on me. My mechanic said to buy some injector cleaner next time I gas up so I'm going to give that a try n then run some test.

I had an intermittent misfire with my Mazda 6s that turned out to be a failing coil pack. It would run fine then occasionally I could feel a slight stumble in the engine then it would run fine again. It finally failed and turned into a dead misfire.

Really wish someone could explain the difference between ($0b) n ($0c), why 1 has misfires n the other doesn't.

Do all of them. If you're going to the trouble of disassembling everything to change the one change them all. How many miles are on them? Did you get a code for a coil pack? Probably the smartest thing I've done in years is buy a good code reader.

I got the car with 42k on it n now she has 87k, car was a CPO from Infiniti of Englewood. The only code I got was on the torque app for a misfire n nothing else. Nothing on coils. Smh full set of coils are like 700 bucks.

I suggest you buy a good OBD code reader. I've got an Autel AutoLink AL629 that I bought off Amazon for $96.00 that works very well with my 08 G37. It reads codes from the engine, transmission, and the ABS braking system. It's paid for itself several times over. It'll give you the fault code that you can look up on the internet and, so far, has been dead accurate in its diagnosis. If it's a coil pack it'll tell you and pinpoint which one. It's very easy to use and works on my G37 and both of my Mazdas. Do yourself a favor and invest in one before you throw anymore money at your problem.

No worries, I wish I could be of more help to you. Maybe someone on here with more knowledge than me will chime in for you. My best advice, from my experience, is to get yourself an Autel or something similar. If you want to do your own work you just have to have one nowadays or you'll end up wasting a ton of money changing out parts with the hope one of them fixes it.

DON'T REPLACE ANY PARTS!!! (just yet)
I don't think you have a misfire issue. The misfire counters reported ZERO and
generally our cars don't go into "limp home" mode due to a misfire.
AND the ignition coils on the VHR engine are very reliable and last a long time.

Also, you don't need a better OBD scanner, but a better app. OBDFusion works very well and has a nice diagnostic report that summarizes all the OBD modes very nicely for less than $15.

Questions:
What was the actual trouble code?
What was the full content of the freeze frame?

You might want to head over to OBD4Everyone (https://www.youtube.com/obd4everyone)
There are some good videos explaining the different PIDs on our engine.

I dont remember the code n when you ask about the "freeze frame" your talking about the full list of results from the test I ran?

Torque's "Test Results" are the OBD mode $06 test results...
The difference between the $0b and $0c, is the time frame.
• $0B is the "exponentially weighted moving average" for the last 10 driving cycles.

• $0C is from the last or current driving cycles.

A driving cycle is a Nissan defined way of driving your car at specific speeds for specific durations. Simply starting you car and driving it may or may not count as an actual "drive cycle"

If you have a random misfire (P0300) that may not increase the misfire count, as it can't be assigned to a specific cylinder.

When the CEL is turned on, many of the engine sensors (actually mode $01 PIDs) are saved in a "Freeze Frame"
This is VERY useful for troubleshooting as you can see the exact operating conditions when the CEL turned on.
