Whining on Cold Start up Only

Hello,
My 6MT sedan started making a whining noise at start up ever since it started getting cold at night. I live in GA and it began getting cold this past weekend and temperatures were at like 50-60 degrees at night. When I start the car, there’s a whine that last maybe less than a second then vanishes . At first I thought it was the belt but a belt makes a screeching noise , not a whining like this .

The whine sounds exactly like a supercharger whine up , as a way to describe it

it only does this when the car is left over night and started as the temperatures started to drop. But warm start ups and if I leave the car alone for several hours, the sound isn’t present . Only happens in the morning when I go to work. Other than the noise , the car doesn’t have any other issue. I checked the fluids and they all look good.

Has anyone had a similar sound or thing happen to them? If so , did you get it fixed and figure out what it was?

PS pump? I know at least mines on it’s way out, and in the bitter cold last winter it was making all sorts of weird noises on cold start.

Mine sounded this way after getting fully warmed up, while warm/hot outside (50F+). Turned out to be the p/s reservoir. There is/was a tsb which replaces it with an updated version. OP's issue may be different because it happens briefly, and when cold.

Correct. Cost to me was $0 as the car was still within factory warranty period (4yr/50K). I do believe retail on the res was something like $200+ . Crazy!

Noise on cold start may very well be something else. Level good?

I'm currently dealing with a whine as well, I've noticed sometimes driving next to a wall, either side, there is a small p/s pump whine. I know its going bad though. I have another whine that reveals itself after a hard pull to redline. I drive an empty on-ramp, run it right out till a sharp bend, floor it for 2 more seconds and I'm at a stop soon after. I haven't for the life of me been able to figure it out, but it isn't the p/s pump. Doesn't sound anything like it. However it does match up with engine revs.

Yeah, my accord I had before would leak constant PS fluid so it would end up whining after a while and I know how a PS whine sounds like so I don’t think this is it. It sounds like when you try to run the starter when the car is already running . If that helps

I’m not sure I’d say it sounds like the starter winding up, it almost sounds like a really small vacuum leak... problem is, car runs like a top, no CEL’s, and I don’t hear it once I pop the hood. It’s very frustrating, but I’m surviving so far. Going to stick a camera or a microphone under the car to see if I can pick it up
