7AT 3rd gear SHIFT FLAIR / HARD SHIFT
Hey guys! I drive a 2010 G37x Sedan, When i shift 3rd gear to 4th it shifts hard and theres also a "shift flair" , if any of you guys have experienced this and fixed it please let me know, i took it to a mechanic and he told me it was a transfer case coupling and that infiniti had a bulletin for it, i took it to infiniti and they did the TCU/ECU Update and the problem exists, i asked them what do i need to do to fix it and they said i would have to buy a new transmission from them for 10,000 dollars. My car is not even worth that much LOL. My car has 129k miles, it just ruins my experience when im driving and it jerks me and the passengers back in the seat after shifting from 3rd to 4th. It only shifts hard/ flairs when my foot is on the gas, if i let go of the gas and shift, it shifts perfect. What do you guys think ? Any help would be appreciated, My current mods are - Q300 CBE, and Takeda CAI

I have the same issue, but it only happens when I'm driving fast, and shifting down and up from 3rd to 4th, but I haven't had any issues with it. I drive a 2011 g37xs coupe, and it did the same thing in my 2013 g37 coupe also. You can get your car tuned where the tuner can play around with the transmission software, and get it too shift a bit smoother. But it is a common issue with this transmission, it is slow, and just shifts hard.

My car had the same issue discussed here when shifting 3rd to 4th. Sometimes the rpm would flare a couple hundred rpm and finally shift.
My car is tuned now and still has the same 3-4 shift issue even though my transmission shifting has been adjusted.
This doesn't happen all the time, but it does happen from time to time. Seems like a very common thing for 7AT owners.

My transmission has been hard shifting lately but it seems like it happens from 1st to 3rd gears. I have 75k miles and it was all smooth until recently. I am taking my car in Tuesday to get a transmission change and I let them know about it and they said they will take a look at it.

Let’s say I’m going 40 down a hill and I shift from 4th to 3rd once in a blue moon instead of getting the immediate vroom of my engine speeding up and matching the transmission, it will lag for 2 seconds like the torque converter didn’t lock up right then boom it will slam into gear not like throwing me into my seat but very noticeable. Only like once a week it does this and I don’t do any bull **** driving In my car I don’t even like to rev match it but sometimes it’s fun

4-3 3-2 and 2-1 should all be a lil harsh with some motion, 5+ up and down are smooth right? For example, when you slide all the way up to 7th gear after 60mph+ smoothly. The downshifts can be harsh but if its real jerky, like REAL jerky rocking back and forth, maybe look at some fluid levels and or replacement intervals. The delay can also be related to the computer wanting to NOT grind the gears. I don't think the TCM will let you smash the gears together and will "wait" for a shift than force gearclash.
