How low will RPMs go at a steady speed?

It feels lately like my G37x sedan (automatic) is shifting into too high a gear. I'll be cruising at a steady speed somewhere between 30 and 40 and I sometimes notice that the engine is turning over only 1000 or 1100 rpms. Do other people find their engines spinning that slowly?

Thanks.

Normal.
mine is the same.
keep it in sport mode for rpm to stay up and hold longer. Wastes more fuel but better throttle response

This is Infiniti's way of getting good EPA miles for the window sticker. Absolutely sucks if you have even one sporty bone in your body. As noted above, use DS mode. Best is to use manual mode.

Thanks for the replies. I've had the car since January, but it almost feels as if this had become worse the last week or two. I usually drive in DS, but this is purely stead-state stuff we're talking about.

Again, thanks.
