Gallery Gasket - Is It Inevitable?
Hey guys, I was just wondering in everyone's experience, is the galley gasket issue inevitable? Has anyone reach 150k+ miles without galley gasket issues? I realize it is an issue that everyone should look out for, I am just trying to see if there a percentage of people who have not had this issue.

I have a P0011 error code and was sure it was the gasket. However, when I got the motor apart the gasket was fine. Not only was it fine but it took about an hour to get all of it off .It was really stuck on there in complete tact. I have over 200k on my motor. So I would say is it inevitable= Yes I am sure mine would have failed eventually but at 200k it showed no signs of giving out or wanting to come off.
Who knows. Drive the car. Dont think about it. Its hit or miss. Not all units are affected. Theres really no way to tell unless you hook up an oil pressure guage and monitor it that way.
problem with that is the pressure can be on the margins for years and be fine. For instance my 07 nismo was read low via the stock guage roughly 5 psi at idle. Went to nissan paid to have them diag and psi was on the margin at 15psi idle 14 is the min. Its been like this for 30k miles and 4 years with no issues. No oil burning no leaks no consumption. So really its like worrying but why? You can prepare financially i guess.

Having not had the issue yet, I haven't looked into it. That said, since Infiniti won't admit this is an endemic problem and even though they quietly changed the gasket for 2012, I question whether they will update their internal manuals to recommend replacing pre-2012 gaskets with the newer item.
You might try online parts providers, like discountinfinitiparts.com to see if their 2011 part number is the same as the 2013 part number.

I just had it towed back from Nissan dealer. They originally said it was a transmission issue, seems they were guessing the problem and not 100% sure. Once they knew what it actually was, I had it all put back together and walked out without paying a dime. At this point, I’m looking for a replacement engine, don’t have any shops in mind as of now.

Nothing. I had already ordered parts, when it turns out they had found the real problem. I spoke to the manager, told him i have to return the parts that have already shipped, pay a restock fee, return shipping and so on. He was understanding of the messed up situation I’m currently in so he let me go without paying anything.

I’ve read that 2012 + engines have been revised and fixed this galley gasket issue? If so, is this guaranteed fix, not to fail like the older years? I’m looking at a 2016 370z engine, if this has really been fixed then I’m better off buying one of those engines that have been revised
