The CSC issue so many people mentioned here has happened to me. Just wondering if anyone has any advice especially about a place to do the repair. From all I read here many recommend the Zspeed aftermarket parts which I am sure that the Infiniti dealership is not going to agree to install. I guess I need to also replace the Master Cylinder as well and possibly some other things. Car has 117,000 miles on it. Really appreciate any advice .. the car is sitting a s shop i towed it to that cannot do the repair and i need to move is ASAP.

Also, I'd recommend going onto the 370z board and looking in their regional section. You'll have more luck finding a shop that specializes in performance builds vs. what you'll find here IMO.

 

Infinti will install aftermarket parts for you but they will not warranty it at all. If it fails then its not on them. Mine went this summer and I went with the zspeed heavy duty csc, new master, and also their street clutch/flywheel set up. Being you are over 100k you might wanna consider doing the clutch too....you have to get the tranny off to do the slave anyways so kill 2 birds with one stone

 

^ +1. when Infiniti did my CSC under warranty i also had them do my MC. i paid for the MC + labour. then, i had them re+re my pressure plate, friction disc and flywheel with a very low mileage unit i bought on this forum. they only charged me 30 mins labour for the swap. i drove away with essentially all new clutch hydraulics and wear components.

 

if the csc failed werent they supposed to replace the disk too? disk and pressure plate is sold together only at the dealer btw.

 

One need not remove clutch disk parts to R&R the csc. Usually a good idea depending on mileage. When trans is dropped, friction disk & pressure plate remain.

 

when the csc fails, usually because it starts to leak, it leaks onto the clutch disk which cant be cleaned. that is why both has to be replaced when csc fails. is this not always the case with everyone who has a failed/leaking csc?.

IIRC, when my CSC blew out back in 2014, the dealership bill was 8 to 10 hours plus parts. The dollar value that sticks in my head was a $1400 repair, but thankfully that was under warranty when the car only had 18k miles on it. Certainly a point of failure on these cars. Good luck, OP.

It's been 4 days since your post, what did you end up doing?

 

I ended up renting a truck and trailer driving up to PA and towing the car myself back to Maryland. Getting the work done at Hills Garage which has experience with installing the Zspeed kit. Will also replace the master and flywheel. Over $2k repair hurts! but i dont want to risk it being a repeating problem. The dealership in Allentown where my car broke down didnt inspire confidence at all said they only worked on a few manual transmission cars recently and didnt know much about the CSC issue.

Once the repair are done ill post again. The car basically has been rarely driven over the last 6 years so there is a lot of maintenance that needs to be done. Not sure if this contributed to the clutch problem. I have 117,000 miles on the car

 

You won't be disappointed with Hill's. I've yet to hear a bad thing about them. The mileage is more or less the contributing factor.
