G37 Overheating issue

Hey guys/galls I am fairly new to the G life, I recently purchased a 2011 G37 sedan auto base model and I am having a issue, the car overheats on stops only and once I turn the heat on it drops to normal almost instantly, if I leave the Ac on it climbs to H in no time, I recently replaced the T stat thinking that was the problem and it wasn’t , also the fans are working perfectly, anyone have any idea or have this happen ? Any help is appreciated , thanks !! Vehicle has 63k miles .

Is coolant at proper level in the radiator and overflow container? How old is the coolant?

Seems like you've checked everything except what slartibartfast said which would be the coolant level itself? More than likely it may be low or just really old coolant.

Are the cooling fans working? Fan modules are common failures

Double check the fans to ensure they are turning at full speed. I had the same problem: temp would rise when stopped at a red light/ drive-thru, etc. and drop to normal once I started moving again. Also, my A/C did not blow as cold. I tested the fans and it turned out they were both giving up the ghost.

Both fans are working well, I think I’ll do a coolant flush and see what happens , I can’t think about anything else that can cause this issue, it’s extremely wierd

Please report back if the flush fixes the issue.

I want to do a test before the flush , is there a way to make my cooling fan work always when the vehicle is turned on? Maybe by bridging the temp sensor ?

If you have a good scan tool (not just a code reader), you can usually activate the fans. I thought you said the fans are working fine?

The car already has a self test protocol built in. This link is for the Nissan Note but the procedure is the same:

http://www.noteownersclub.co.uk/foru...topic2638.html

In my case I ran the IPDM self test and one fan only spun at half speed and the other never came on. To make sure it was the fan motors and not the module, I disconnected the fans from the module and ran 12V directly to the fans- they were goners.

In the end I bought a used, complete fan assembly from a 2016 370Z off eBay and 20min. later problem solved.

@ Gdaddy, it’s so wierd , I park it at home and the fan works once it’s warm, I go out into traffic and it starts to heat up and I park and check and the fan isn’t working , then turns on maybe 1-2 mins later , I’m guessing there’s something wrong with the module ?

The link doesn’t work but I’ll try to research and see if I find how to do the test as I strongly believe it is the fans malfunctions when it wants , this morning in my drive way once it warmed up the fan kicked in, however on my way to work the temp started to rise at a stop and I got out and the fan was not working , I parked at a gas station and it was working a couple mins after, this is wierd iv never seen a car do this, should I replace the module ?

Link fixed. Run the IPDM diagnostic and go from there.
