09 G37S Coupe 6MT, 94,000 miles ish
check engine light came on and some small grinding in 5th gear if I'm at 4000 rpm ish, took it to the dealer that just opened down the road and was told there is a misfire that they cant locate and should replace all 6 coilpack's and plugs and the transmission is coming apart and should replace the whole thing.$5k for both...
So def not doing the work there, but have never even heard of transmission is coming apart? does anybody here know what that means?

 

That's pretty vague. Ask them specifically what the issue is or take it to a different place, preferably one that specializes in transmissions, to tell you specifically what the issue is.

 

Yeah, I'm gonna try to find somewhere else to see if they can be more specific, Id just never heard of that before. They are going to give me a write up this evening when I pick the vehicle up.

 

It would be like if your doctor told you you have chest issues. Uh, lots of organs in there doc.
