Kind of a pointless discussion as we don't have any idea what happened yet.

Just on a side note from reading page one and not seeing it corrected.

The oil light is not a low oil level indicator. It is a low oil pressure indicator.

It's more about a manufacturer voiding your warranty because you used a NAPA oil filter instead of an OEM branded oil filter.

A manufacturer could absolutely void your warranty for installing an aftermarket part. As for proving it, they don't really have to. You can't force them to do a warranty repair, so you'd be forced to pay out of pocket and take legal action. And car manufacturers have far deeper pockets to litigate than Joe Consumer.
SEMA has lobbied to create precedent, and done so in court, to prevent voiding warranty for adding an aftermarket part. Wheels, audio equipment, etc, cannot be used to void a warranty. Yes, you may have to pay out of pocket if they refuse to warranty a failure, but there is ample precedent for you to win in court. I have had to act as expert witness several times. They must prove the aftermarket part caused the failure.

Hello guys, sorry about the long absence. I finally received an update on my car that is actually worth sharing.

The past two weeks or so was one of the worst experiences, ever. It really sucks to have your car break down in a passing by town. I had my car towed initially to a nearby auto shop. I had to leave my car in front of the shop and got picked up by my friend and got taken to my destination. The next day, I had to call and talk to the auto shop mechanics. They had my mail my car key so that they can open it up and see what's wrong. They didn't find anything particularly wrong, so suggested I get it towed to the dealership for a more thorough breakdown of my engine.

I then had my car towed from there to the dealership while actually not being there myself. I asked the auto shop mechanic to take videos of the loading up phase of my car onto the tow truck and he was nice enough to do so for me. However, I don't know if my car wasn't damaged during the unloading phase, like it was damaged during the unloading phase of the first tow. Well, anyways, it took a bit of calling around to get my car finally towed to an infiniti dealership and then even more calling around to give the dealership permission to break down my engine and look into what the problem seems to be. First, they wanted to do a thorough inspection of my car, and said if the damage is found to be not covered by the warranty, I'll have to pay for it out of my pocket. I agreed. They couldn't find anything. Then, they asked me for my permission to break down the engine and really look into it. If the failure is found to be not covered by the warranty, I'll owe them $850. I agreed, and they went to work. This was last Friday or Saturday.

Today, I got a call from them. They found many sharp metal pieces in my motor. Supposedly, this was a very rare thing and they've only seen it only a handful of times. They didn't really go into details, because I had to get off the phone, but I plan to get a full diagnose report when I go in to pick up my car with a brand new $20k motor. That's right. Fortunately, this mysterious cause of my engine failure is covered under the warranty and I get to give them a used motor with 40k miles on it for a brand new one. Pretty stoked for it!

forget about the "$20k" statement. OP likely just threw that out there. of course that number is way high.

bottom line is that this is now a warranty claim, so no burden on the OP's pre-holiday credit card beyond what he's already out for the first shop. nice to hear of another happy ending to what was originally a big concern. i hope the re+re goes smoothly!

It is a brand new whole engine. Not just the motor. They said it was $20k and that if the repair wasn't covered under the warranty, I'd have to pay 20k for it or 6k for a used one with 4x,xxx miles on it.

Whether labor cost is included in those prices or not, I'm not too sure.

PS- Reading yall's disbelief that the engine costs 20k is having me second guessing what I actually heard. Maybe the service rep told me 10k but I heard it as 20k. Or, maybe he told me 20k on an accident. Idk...

The terms are interchangeable when dealing with internal combustion engines/motors

A more accurate definition of the two in relation to each other:
-A motor is a machine that converts other forms of energy into mechanical energy and so imparts motion.

-An engine is a motor that converts thermal energy to mechanical work.

Hence why internal combustion engines are called either engine or motor, but purely electrical cars only have motors. Anyways, glad you got fixed up and Merry Christmas!
