Any consequences for driving in manual mode and constant downshifting?
The RPM jump from 3rd to 4th is an issue many people experience. Pretty sure there's a thread here somewhere with no solution.
For what it's worth. I've put 40k on my 2011 and I manually shift 75% of the time. If I didn't have paddles, I probably would have sold the car by now. I don't understand how/why anyone drives an automatic.

This is my only issue on manual mode. (hitting the rev limiter...)
Trolling behind a CTS-V. I was just testing how far I fall behind... =)

I also have a 2008 EX35 AWD 5 speed tranny I bought brand new and now has 86k miles and drive in Manual mode 99% since 2008.
My Q40 is only at 18k miles 100% driven in manual mode.
(Keep an eye on those Accord V6 on rolling race, they have a great midrange power vs ours from 40-80mph they dominate. Only on Manual mode you have the advantage and either you start from the dig or above 90MPh we’ll get them)
The new turbo Accord does 13.8 secs in 1/4 now.

Good evening. I drive a 2013 G37 Journey Sedan. I have been driving in manual mode most of the time on the highway because for some odd reason my car slacks off downshifting when driving on D or DS. There are multiple times I pushed the accelerator full throttle and it downshifted but it still felt slow and sluggish. These past month I always drive in Manual mode. Every time I have to pass a slower car, I go from D to Manual mode and eventually back to D mode when I have passed and cruising. Is there damage to doing this? I often switch from D to Manual because I feel that I have better control of the power band. My question is there any damage done or will driving in Manual mode affect my engine or transmission longevity? I always thought Infiniti engineers programmed certain shift points of the car for longevity or safety of the transmission/engine. I also noticed up shifting and down shifting using the **** is a bit hard and not smooth. Takes a bit of effort to push the lever up and down compared to my past cars with manual mode. I also do not have paddle shifters because I do not have the sports package. Thanks for your time guys.
I've used manual mode for the last 30K miles which I've had the car. I have a 5AT though, so i feel like it's easier to control. My friends G37 keeps beeping if you try to upshift too soon, kinda annoying. Also the 7 gears makes it a little bit more work lol.
Manual shift
same here 147k but i noticed recently a hard slam in 3rd gear. I have been using auto more recently but tofay at the gas station i fueled up and started car. It ran smooth in idle but all the sudden sputtered. And evened itself out. Then i checked any fault codes and there it was. Trans fluid sens high temp fault. Is this due to manual shifting less and using the auto more?
