Forced induction

Does anyone have any experience or recommendations regarding turbo or supercharged applications for the G37?

Not doing this anytime soon but this is what I came up with after a lot of research.

This will put you at roughly 500-550 rwhp depending on how much boost you run.

I noticed this does not address the engine internal components can they handle that kind of horsepower ?

Stock internals as far as rods, pistons, and valves should be fine at this power. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I would definitely have the engine checked over first before doing it to ensure there are no problems.

Also had L19 headstuds on another list of possible upgrades.

Also do you think it's worth it considering the type of car it is to convert it over because it would actually be on par with the new 9/11 turbo's

Is it worth it? That's all a matter of opinion.

Again that all depends...

Is the car AT or 6MT?

RWD or AWD?

The skill of the driver to launch it?

Tire/suspension setup?

LSD?

I could see a 4.5s 0-60 time being achievable with this power level. Maybe less...0-60 is not a good judge of the cars performance though. This car from a 60 mph roll would be a monster.

I would think that would be highly disappointing considering the car already does a 5.20 0 to 60 I think I'll just save my money

Exactly. What was the purchase price of the car? I scooped mine up for $20k and if another $20k put me at 4-4.50-60 and running low 12's-high 11's that's over RS400 capabilities on a better driving car (IMO) at the same price. You also get a stout VQ and better looks (again, IMO). Not to mention, sleeper status and the potential to go for more power if you decide to go built down the road. Then you can go GT-R hunting...

What exactly do you expect to get that's better for $40g?

TBH, if my car wasn't being used for D.C. traffic and I went with a 6MT my car would be going for a snail application....I'd be lying if I said I wasn't looking at picking up a high mileage coupe for this very reason....

JPowers is right on with the cost for a twin turbo kit for what he has listed. You have 6 options to choose from (some not even in production):

Supercharger
1. Stillen - Cheapest option, bad original design. Many motors have been lost in the 400 WHP range due to the MAF placement. There is a member, Topgunz, who has a kit that solves the MAF issue. Supercharger is centrifugal based
2. RJM - If you can wait, they are currently working on a positive displacement option for the VQ37, who knows how long once it is done for the 370 that they will make the necessary changes for G37. Supposed to be about 10k for kit, plus hood modification I think.

Twin Turbo
1. AAM - Borg Warner EFR turbos
2. Fast Intentions - Garrett turbos
3. CJ Motorsports - Not sure if Charles at CJM thinks his header design can fit a G37 with the twin tubos. Requires a bit of custom piping I believe. Again, you would have to check with him.

Single Turbo
1. Boosted Performance - Cheaper that twins, doesn't require dropping the engine. I would go single for my power goals (550 WHP) if I could do it over again.
