Exactly. What was the purchase price of the car? I scooped mine up for $20k and if another $20k put me at 4-4.50-60 and running low 12's-high 11's that's over RS400 capabilities on a better driving car (IMO) at the same price. You also get a stout VQ and better looks (again, IMO). Not to mention, sleeper status and the potential to go for more power if you decide to go built down the road. Then you can go GT-R hunting...
What exactly do you expect to get that's better for $40g?
TBH, if my car wasn't being used for D.C. traffic and I went with a 6MT my car would be going for a snail application....I'd be lying if I said I wasn't looking at picking up a high mileage coupe for this very reason....

If you want a 6MT coupe with snails, I got a good deal for you
Would be building on a budget so everything would be in stages. Suspension, trans, clutch, etc...Then have the shop near me do the build. Budget for the car is $10k to get things started.
Can't pick up a boosted 6MT out the gate unfortunately.

$22K is like dealership pricing for the parts and labor, that's ridiculous. It's literally a bolt-on kit. Click on over to the 370 boards and look at the 30-40 build threads of guys doing the install in their garage with basic tools in a weekend. You got hosed...
This platform can make 600whp with under $10k of name brand parts and labor, easy. Mid/rear mount turbo is where its at.

What? Then you woke up?
You aren't touching a TT kit for under 7-8k and you're looking at 1.2-2k in labor for a straight install. A solid build is sitting around 12-15k if done right and tunes and oil coolers are added/upgraded. AT guys need to invest in a cooler as well in order to avoid issues.
Please cite some sources for thee name brand parts and labor that led to the $10k figure. In their garage? C'mon man. They probably worked at a garage if anything and utilized those tools. A T or TT set-up isn't a shady tree mechanic endeavor.
Lastly....600 whp? How long that run before **** popped? The mechanic who quoted my build actually builds race cars, competes, and has built some 3.5s....He said 400-450 whp if you want to keep it safe and DD. Anymore then you want to start planning a built application.

TT kits are all almost 10K. Only one can be installed without removing the engine.
On top of that, there are no supporting mods from oil coolers, brakes, suspension, rear differential, wheels, tires, etc..Yes you can do it cheap but cheap is never right nor optimal. If you're spending 10K on a TT kit, you want optimal and nothing less. Otherwise, why bother?
Our engines do seem to be pretty stout but you'll want another $10K in the bank in case it blows. Would be good to install the JWT C2 cams while the engine is out. Add any preventative maintenance like timing chain cover gaskets. I'd do a better oil pump at the very least.
For auto guys, you're looking at $4K minimum plus shipping of your tranny to Level 10 and back.
All the 370Z guys will tell you, $20K minimum to do it right.

I'd go E85 over meth if you have a station near you. Only issue with E85 is that it's easier to cross that torque threshold capable of bending a few rods, LOL. Plenty of guys are pushing well over 500 hp with 93 octane. Even much higher.
