Transfer Case Confirmation
Transfer Case Confirmation
Good morning all.
I am planning to change out my transfer case fluid on my 2012 G37xS Coupe.
I searched in the DIY for pictures on how a transfer case looks like and where it is located. I only found pictures for a sedan.
I looked under my car and found what I think is the transfer case fill bolt and drain plug on the passenger side.
I have attached two pictures of what I saw. Can someone look at my pictures and help me confirmed that I did indeed identify the transfer case, fill bolt and drain plug correctly?
It is the first time I will be doing this job on my own and I want to make sure I don't screw anything up.
Thank you all in advance.

You have successfully located the transfer case and identified the drian and fill ports. Be sure to use the correct hex size and get it fully seated so not to strip out the hex inserts (they look a little rusty, thats the only reason I say this). Good luck! Should be quick and easy!
Here's a great walkthrough with awesome pictures.

Thanks!
Let me call them again and see if they can provide me with a part number.
The last time I spoke with them, the parts department said "We never sell those washers." and at that point, I requested to be transferred to the service department. At the service department, they patched me to their floor tech and the tech said "we never change them and just re-use them"......

I've done the rear end twice and gear box (6mt) 3 times now. Reused the washers each time without any issues. My last 2 motorcycles used similar aluminum washers for the engine oil drain bolt. Reused it each and every time. Oil changes were done every 3K miles or less. Sold each bike at ~40K miles, never had any leaks.
Now the engine oil drain bolt washer I do replace each time. Why? They're an accordion type design, thin copper. Also, the place I buy oe filters from includes them in the kit.

Reuse them man, I always have. Especially if a service tech said they do it, that obviously means they haven't gotten any hateful calls about it later leaking after a service was done.
