Coolant Leak - Where's this location?
How the hell do you get to the clamp on the small hose at the back of the engine?? Mine has sprung a leak and I’m leaving drips of antifreeze every time I run the car. Looks like a PITA to get to? Any tips?
It was for the mobile mechanic who did it. I paid $75, I felt badly for paying so little.
I don't really see any other ways to do this, maybe if you are 7 feet tall you might be able to just lean over in front of the fender and reach down.
That thread has the tool to use. A heads-up... gonna b more leaks on other hoses. I would change all so coolant fill is 1 time as oppose to each per hose. Chk my other thread for other hoses.
Thanks so much for the advice. I had already been thinking of the 45 or 90 degree long reach plier but removing the windshield wipers and cowl I didn’t think to do. Hate to be “one of those guys” but what other thread are you referring to? Could you post a link?
Long reach are for passenger hoses/coupler.
The one for you, go to harbor freight & pick the 3 wrench set (not sure the correct name) its like $10. Post #27 on this thread
Quick Question concerning the hose on the back I referenced in post #50. If I removed this hose will I lose a lot of coolant? Will it come pouring out everywhere? I have the replacement hose at my house but all of the other hoses I just ordered yesterday online and wont be here for at least a week. (figured I'd do the whole cooling system while I'm doing replacing the one). That hose in back is the leaker so I'd like to change it if possible without losing a ton of coolant...... or should I just wait until I get all the other hoses next week and do them all at the same time?
FYI the amount of coolant being lost is a few drips every day on my garage floor, possibly a few more when I park at work. I drive 8 miles each way to work and don't drive the car on the weekends. Been checking the radiator in the mornings and it's always full. Nothing in the overflow though.
Oh and by the way I removed the engine cover and changing that rear hose isn't going to be nearly as hard as I thought it would. I can just reach back there with a small set of vice grips. I don't have gorilla arms so I'm thankful for that.

Dont recall a lot coming out. I think i still did a flush after hose change. Then more hoses started breaking on me & had to perform another flush

Yea I just bought em all $132 for all hoses, fluid, and tools I needed. Gonna do it this week. Wish me luck. Bought a lisle to help the burping/refill. Discountinfinitiparts.com has great prices.
So I wanted to give an update since I changed all my hoses last week and I HAVE NO MORE LEAK!! Thank you for the tips everyone! Everything was pretty straight forward on the hoses and coolant fill and burp. The only pain in the butt was the one in back of the engine. I ended up using the small vise grips and having to disconnect a vacuum hose?? on the top to give me a little more room. I literally lost 5lbs in sweat doing the hoses in the garage in August in FL but I saved $300 in labor so it was worth it.
