How the hell do you get to the clamp on the small hose at the back of the engine?? Mine has sprung a leak and I’m leaving drips of antifreeze every time I run the car. Looks like a PITA to get to? Any tips?

It was for the mobile mechanic who did it. I paid $75, I felt badly for paying so little.

It's actually not that hard. You take the engine cover off, put some padding on top of the engine (I used my mechanic pad). Get on top of the engine, kneel on the padding and reach down with you hands. The radiator shroud seemed strong enough to support my weight when I stepped on it to get on top of the engine. Being a small guy helps, if you are a big dude I am not sure if the radiator shroud can support the weight.

I don't really see any other ways to do this, maybe if you are 7 feet tall you might be able to just lean over in front of the fender and reach down.

This is the hose clamp I’m speaking of. Using a mirror and flashlight I can see that this is the source of my leak.

those flexible hose clamp pliers I posted above should do the job (the hose I thought you were referring to is just to the right of it in the picture), I also use these https://www.harborfreight.com/11-in-...ers-64088.html and a straight version of them too...you probably want to remove your windshield wipers and the cowl along with the plastic around the brake booster/battery to get to that spot though if you haven't already...

That thread has the tool to use. A heads-up... gonna b more leaks on other hoses. I would change all so coolant fill is 1 time as oppose to each per hose. Chk my other thread for other hoses.

Thanks so much for the advice. I had already been thinking of the 45 or 90 degree long reach plier but removing the windshield wipers and cowl I didn’t think to do. Hate to be “one of those guys” but what other thread are you referring to? Could you post a link?

I found your other thread and noticed you mention an aluminum connector from O’Reilly. Is this necessary or just a precaution for possible future failures?

Factory fr dealership is fine. Nissan dealership is a little cheaper.

Long reach are for passenger hoses/coupler.

The one for you, go to harbor freight & pick the 3 wrench set (not sure the correct name) its like $10. Post #27 on this thread

Quick Question concerning the hose on the back I referenced in post #50. If I removed this hose will I lose a lot of coolant? Will it come pouring out everywhere? I have the replacement hose at my house but all of the other hoses I just ordered yesterday online and wont be here for at least a week. (figured I'd do the whole cooling system while I'm doing replacing the one). That hose in back is the leaker so I'd like to change it if possible without losing a ton of coolant...... or should I just wait until I get all the other hoses next week and do them all at the same time?

FYI the amount of coolant being lost is a few drips every day on my garage floor, possibly a few more when I park at work. I drive 8 miles each way to work and don't drive the car on the weekends. Been checking the radiator in the mornings and it's always full. Nothing in the overflow though.

Oh and by the way I removed the engine cover and changing that rear hose isn't going to be nearly as hard as I thought it would. I can just reach back there with a small set of vice grips. I don't have gorilla arms so I'm thankful for that.

So I wanted to give an update since I changed all my hoses last week and I HAVE NO MORE LEAK!! Thank you for the tips everyone! Everything was pretty straight forward on the hoses and coolant fill and burp. The only pain in the butt was the one in back of the engine. I ended up using the small vise grips and having to disconnect a vacuum hose?? on the top to give me a little more room. I literally lost 5lbs in sweat doing the hoses in the garage in August in FL but I saved $300 in labor so it was worth it.
