Largest capacity oil filter that fits

So, I'm in the continuing process of de-sludging the mess caused by the first owner of this car. Regular oil changes with M1 are starting to break things up and I'm sticking with shorter intervals for changes. That said, the oil filter on this car is tiny and i don't trust it not to fill up with gunk fast and start to bypass. Seriously, I've seen bigger oil filters on lawnmowers.

I've already moved from the M108 to M110. Anyone know of larger capacity filters that will fit and seal?

Not sure on the part #s but I assume the M110 is the size for the Nissan V8s, that's what I've been using for my past 07 G35 and my current 09 for years now. Haven't tried any cross reference as far as that thread size and o-ring seal. I don't think I'd go any bigger to be honest. You should get that motor to a much better place in fairly short order and once you do it should be pretty easy to keep it that way. G/L

Correct. That's the m56 filter. It's taken about 27k miles of regular m1 fills to get it to where you saw it in the other thread. Hopefully it speeds up now that some of the passages have been manually cleared.

I'll just keep using the 110. Shouldn't get too full on 2k mi oil changes

Just make sure whatever filter you use maintains the stock bypass valve pressure.

Just as an extra measure you could buy one of the magnets that you put on the outside of your oil filter.

They look like this: https://www.amazon.com/FilterMAG-SS3...+filter+magnet

Also a magnetic drain plug from Greddy.

Not really worried about magnetic particles. Just sludge

Of course, but my guess would be there are some metal particles all in that sludge.

Interesting, how much more oil would be needed with this set up? I looked at a filter for my car and it was tiny. I would definitely do this. I was looking at using Purolator Pure One Filters. I wish there was better filtering for our cars, but it seems like 20-25 microns are all we might get.

Have you used a oil cleaner before a oil change. I plan on doing Amsoil and probably getting their engine clean. I have used it before, the annoying thing about it is they want you to have the engine going at least 20 mins before the oil change.

The added capacity going from the G37 to M56 filter is maybe a few ounces. It's not much larger than the factory lawnmower filter. 20-25 microns is fine and you won't get better without a bypass filter setup.

I always change my oil hot.
