Question regarding ATF service and AWD service from my dealer

So I have an appointment next week for 2 services.

1. ATF fluid change involving 14 quarts exchange using synthetic fluid. Done for $199.
1. AWD service where they will change out the fluid in transfer case and both differentials. Also for $199.

Are these decent prices and worth it to do? I have 62k on 2013 G37x that I bought at 37k as a CPO.

Thanks.

Vince

That's a decent price and smart services to perform IMO

Sounds like a nice price from what I've seen around here. Might also ask the dealer how much more they'd charge to drop the AT pan to clean the pan magnets and buildup in the pan.

Those prices seem reasonable to me. However, I wouldn't put anything other than Nissan Matic S in the transmission.

I will ask them when I bring the vehicle in but my guess is they will use the Matic S fluid. Do you think that this is a fluid flush meaning they hook up the machine to flush out all old fluid? It's at Kelly and the description is in the link:

INFINITI Parts & Service Specials Near Boston - Kelly INFINITI in Danvers

Thanks.

The FSM describes a repeated drain-and-fill operation (3 times, if memory serves.) I'm not sure what Kelly does, but I'm curious to find out.

BTW, I bought my CPO G from Kelly, too!

My dealer wants 229 for the Transmission Service. I have a lot of questions for them. I don't even know if the first Transmission Service was done at 90k. I felt this hesitation around fourty when stuck in traffic. Totally sucks.

I have read that doing a flush is okay especially on a newer tranmission. If a car hasn't ever had its fluid changed, then a flush can cause particles to go into drain areas and clog them. I am tempted to get at least two drains rather than flushes using Amsoil. What do you guys think?

They flushed the system completely. I dealt with Adam and I asked him and he told me they use a machine to flush and completely remove all of the old flush. he said they only use genuine Nissan Matic S. On the invoice I saw that they had down 12 quarts of Matic S fluid along with BG power flush and exchange kit for like $38 or something. All off this was included in the $199 price. They also did the transfer case and both differentials for $199.

Adam assured me they do a lot of this and that was my first time at Kelly (I bought the vehicle as CPO at Herb Chambers) and I would say they are really busy, much busier than HC. I dropped the car at 9am and they didn't start on it until close to 4pm then didn't finish until the next afternoon. I was very pleased with everything. I think for the differentials they used Valvoline 85w-90 if memory serves me right and the transfer case they also use Matic S.

I noticed on their website they increased the transfer case and 2 differential fluids service to $249. The vehicle had 62k and to be honest I didn't feel anything different. Not sure if I was supposed to but I feel confident they did everything right.

I walked out paying $462 which included $35 for inspection sticker and some shop fees.

$229 is not bad. I assume they will flush the system? Just curious why you decided to use Amsoi rather than Nissan Matic S?

I guess it's a little too late because you already had the work done, but .....

If you have a place to do it and some basic tools, changing the rear diff fluid and the transfer case is a easy if not easier than changing the oil on the engine.

even the front diff is easy to do but it's a little tight in there and have to be careful not to damage the oil pressure sensor.

Technically even changing the transmission fluid is easy, just drain the fluid and pump the exact same amount back in..

As said, if you have the time and place, no reason why you couldn't do this yourself if you have changed your own oil before.

That's a very fair price for both from the dealer. I've found both services closer to $300

I know there are two bolts in the drain pan. One is the overflow bolt. Can you get 4 quarts out of it? It looked more like you would get only 2 quarts unless you opened the pan. What about opening the pan and cleaning everything. The Nissanmatic S I believe is all synthetic, so that would be okay.

I would worry about a full flush on a car with 158k on it.

I'd lean towards a 3x drain & fill vs. a flush, the drain & fill is the FSM procedure. It's possible a power flush isn't in the FSM because of the added equipment cost for the dealers, but since it's not an FSM listed procedure I'd just go w/ the 3x drain & fill. The DIY on site is pretty easy, mine is still performing better than prior to the service and have about 15k miles on it since. Dropping the pan for cleaning along w/ magnet cleaning is a good plan if you've got 75k miles or more on your G. If you have around 30k on your G and want to get in to a regular service, a simple 1x drain and fill every 30k should keep your ATF in good condition. Here's that DIY link~https://www.myg37.com/forums/d-i-y-i...rop-clean.html
