From: Framingham Ma,
Year and mileage of car it looke like it could be a few things
Possible causes - Faulty Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor - Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor harness is open or shorted - Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor circuit poor electrical connection - Communication error between the Engine Control Module (ECM) and Transmission Control Module (TCM)

The P0725 Codes is triggered when Transmission Control Module (TCM) does not receive the engine speed signal from Engine Control Module (ECM).

The Engine Control Module (ECM) monitors the engine speed through the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor with the engine running, and send signal to the Transmission Control Module (TCM).

^^^

The ECU talks to the TCM on a network (called CAN). The TCM is not receiving the engine RPM signal from the ECU. Unless you have special tools (Consult 3 / CAN sniffer) you will need to take it to the dealer and have them fix it.

This is not a common issue (that I am aware of) and there is no simple fix, like resetting the ECU.

Has any work been done on the car before the code popped up?

My 2011 sedan is throwing this code (P0725). My car hasn't stalled. Nothing seems serious. It's shifting just seems to lag sometimes. And when accelerating from a stop i have to push the gas pedal down further than usual to get it to go.

Just feels like it should be running better.

Anyone think I should get the ECM update before i think about replacing the camshaft sensor?
