Transmission revs up between 3rd and 4th

Alright so I purchased this car from a dealer about a month ago and have noticed this the past couple of weeks.

I'm not sure what it is and what it means so any advise/knowledge would be appreciated.

Basically I've noticed that when the auto transmission shifts from 3rd to 4th it revs up before shifting. I've never seen this happen before so I can't imagine it's a good sign.

The car only has ~65,000 miles on it. It also has a 6 month/6,000 mile powertrain warranty on it from the dealer that I hope will cover fixing this issue if it is one.

If you all want me to take a video and upload it I can probably do that later tonight as well.

Mine kinda does this. Particularly under moderate load when shifting at 2500 rpm or thereabouts.

It sounds to me like your AT is slipping. No good. Get if fixed under warranty.

I had the same issue with mine at 59k when infiniti powertrain covered that but dealer said it is normal and brushed it off, I have it in writing for future use but car has been driving fine since then, now at 69k.

Mine also has some slight slippage only between 3rd and 4 (there's a massive gear change there mind you from really short gears to long gears) when under a moderate load at lower to mid rpm's. Don't recall it happening at 4k rpm and above however. And the slippage is 1-200 rpm. I believe it is normal (unfortunately).

Oh okay that does make some sense then. I believe mine only does it around 3,000-3,500 RPM but never over that. When I leave for work today I'll monitor it more closely to see when exactly it's doing it and how much slippage there is.

I just want to be absolutely sure it's not something I need to worry about. Car before this was an '06 Maxima and had all kinds of transmission problems and cost me a lot of money. Hoping to stay away from any of those issues for a while.

I have been ignoring this TSB because I like the strong engine deceleration provided by the locked torque convertor.

It's still there, just not as strong. Still does it in sport mode the same

wait really??? When I went to the dealer about this last year, he said no TSBs are for this issue? Is it free to get done?

It was for me but I am under a CPO warranty. I'm personally very happy with how it drives now. Rev matching is still there but not as aggressive and the upshifts are much more on point, no more slip.

Thanks a lot for pointing out that TSB for me! The dealer that I bought the car from and who the powertrain warranty is through is located about 2 hours away from me. Should I give them a call with the reference # of the TSB to see if they cover it?

Never had to go through the process of getting a vehicle serviced based on a TSB before so I don't know what all information I should have ready before giving them a call.

I'm also assuming it should be covered under the Powertrain but I'll be sure to ask them that when I call in.

I asked the dealer to make sure my tranny was all up to date when I bought the car and I was under the impression it was. I am definitely having the exact issue described here.
