Is my G37 Motor Knocking!!?? (Video Inside)

Hello All,
I recently picked up an 09 g37 coupe with 120k miles. It has a clean title, and has been serviced by the dealership pretty regularly. I have the service records in hand. The motor seems to have a ticking/knocking sound. I checked the oil level and its full. Ive put 1000 miles on it already and the oil has not moved. Also, the motor seems to shake at idle.. It is very noticeable when In drive, Reverse and Park. However, it goes away slightly when in neutral. The shaking can best be described as when your car is at a red light and feeling like it might stall.. However, the G hasnt stalled on me. Rpms will drop slightly and cause shaking but not to the point of stalling YET.. The ticking motor and the shaking motor is starting to concern me...

However, the engine runs great. Plenty of Power, gas mileage is good and car is super clean.. I was comfortable buying the G with high mileage because of the service history records.. but now Im thinking I might have bought a lemon..

Here is a clip of the sound:

Please Help.

Thanks

The drop in RPM and Shake is cause by the throttle body, you will have to clean them once a year or twice, there are many post regarding this problem on the forum, also you can do a search on youtube.

I would demand they prove your tranny had the update. If not make them do it. As far as your issue no code theyre no help. Id be weary of the tb cleaning if your not experienced

Thanks for the advice. Anyone know anything about the knocking ticking sound from the motor? I hear its the VVEL. But at 100k miles, would that issue have been taken care of already? It was serviced at the dealer every 6k miles

Thats a good clip.
I hear the valves ticking normally. I also hear a clicking type noise where you focused the camera. Does not sound normal as i dont hear it on mine. I cannot assist further on that one. As for the tranny id get it done. You can also call Infiniti consumer affairs to see if theyll assist further on helping you out with doing it as a courtesy

My car used to make this sound when I ran Mobil 1 oil, switched to Amsoil now and it's dead silent. Guess that ester based oil is doing work!

The car is currently on Full synthetic oil. Freshly changed at the dealership less than 1k miles ago.

If you are referring to what the dealer uses which is mobil 1, that isn't a full synthetic. Great off the shell brand oil but its not a real synthetic. Castrol and Mobil 1 are currently being sued for false advertising. Only real synthetics are Amsoil,Redline,Motul,Eneos, etc.

That sounds normal to me so either mine has an issue or yours is just fine. Most cars have some sort of ticking noise when running. I had a 2009 audi a4 that sounded like a freaking diesel truck, although that had more to do with the high compression in the 2L engine.

edit - oh and its possible the dealer did use a crappy oil which might possibly cause a bit of extra noise. My 08 isnt here to compare to and while it does have the exact same noises, i dont remember if it was as prominent as yours.

Thanks for your reply. Any chance you could post a video of yours for comparison?
Thanks
