Is the throttle lag issue only for certain years of production, 5AT, 7AT or 6MT?

 

I think it has to do more with how the ECU driver profile was made durring calibration and the type of driving you're doing at any given moment. I notice much more lag when I'm cruising or in slow traffic then if I am on the back roads acceleration hard and breaking hard. It also seems to put itself into a much quicker reacting profile after I break 90 or 100 mph in an aggressive fasion.

Doing a reset and then driving aggressive afterwards does help some but only so much.

This is with a 2012 7at RWD S model

 

It seems to be most prevalent in the 09+ 7AT equipped Gs, the transmission shifiting logic has undergone several updates to try and help w/ this issue and has gotten better w/ each update. I believe the current AT Q50s seem to have the best behaved ATs, maybe they'll eventually apply that recipe to our ATs but I wouldn't hold your breath.


I had an 07 5AT that didn't have much lag, I think the extra 2 gears seems to have caused a more complex logic and at times it seems the transmission hesitates between shift choices whereas the 5AT has simpler mechanics.

7 AT primarily from my research. Reset, traction control off, driving in DS, throttle controller....plus driving like a mad man helped my car. This car also does not like when you floor it, it tends to hesitate worst when that occurs. The the smooth, quick but progressive/gradual application of the throttle pedal instead of flooring it reduces the lag also.

Do I have this right... It seems to be a transmission issue (not shifting down) and not really a throttle response issue?

 

IMO that would be accurate, the transmission gets in an indecisive "holding pattern" rather than a quick shift. Like I mentioned it seems to have gotten better w/ each update, I don't experience this too often, and it takes some adaptation on the driver as well.
I think I've adapted for the most part, lol.

 

Also a tune will take car of the throttle lag and clean up the shifting on the 7AT.

 

I have noticed this as well.. A quick flooring seems to completely retard the throttle for me and then jolt me forward. QUITE unpleasant, but the steady press down accelerates/shifts fine.
