E85 tune on g37
#47
I'm going to revive this from the dead again. I've seen E85 for $2.29 a gallon in PA. I'm currently paying $3.57 a gallon for 93... so you can see why I'm interested in this despite some MPG loss lol. If you upgrade to GTR injectors can you still run 91/93? I'm tuned with ECUTEK, I wasn't sure if I can get maps for regular pump gas in addition or if changing the injectors screws that up?

@Rene Salazar You can expect up to 10 WHP on the stock block. You can keep the stock fuel pump, just get the GTR injectors. I know a guy smarter than any one of these "behind the keyboard genius'" and he has done it to multiple cars and quoted me $220 out the door.
What they do is put a map for e85 and 93 that you will have to empty out your tank almost completely before switching fuel types.
for me when I am in park when I hold the cancel on the cruise control my maps show on my RPM's, RPM 1 is map 1 (93) and RPM 2 is my e85 map.
IMHO worth it when we spend over $2000 on our cars for minimal gains all together.
However, you will definitely need a tune.

Did you do a local dyno tune with him or remote? You would need an ethanol content analyzer to import the data into RaceROM so it can automatically adjust. Actually, if you're doing this, they're only about $99 to add on which relieves the headache of running the tank near empty to refuel and switch maps.

That data is still out. There are many of use that have been running E on the daily for more than three years now and nothing bad. I've put nearly 100k on my car now since I went flex and nothing bad. That said I do use top lube about every other tank of E I use. Does it help? No clue, the science says it should. Does it make the injectors quieter? Yep. Does it give me peace of mind? Yep. Do you need to do it? Nope.

I've been running E85 for over a year and a half now on the stock pump. No issues. I have GTR injectors and a ECUTek tune. Clear 5% increase in power on the dyno and felt on the road when you go from 9ish-10% ethanol to 60%+ ethanol. I get around 20.2mpg on 93O and around 15.7mpg on E85. I've actually kept hand written records of the fuel, mileage, and cost since I went flex-fuel. E85 to date might give me less distance but is slightly cheaper still and gives me better power. I drive with a heavy foot and am pretty much full bolt-on N/A.

For flex fuel you will need to get tuned on the ecutek software. All you will need is the gtr injectors. Adding a cold air intake will help greatly with power increase. Not really needed, per se but why not if you're going for E85 and looking for more power? I'm running E85 on uprev software tune. I don't have flex capability. So I have to empty tank to change fuels and then switch maps

To properly switch over you should consider a flex fuel sensor. Because not all pump E85 is the same lower octanes will result in lower power and drive ability issues possibly engine problems

FBO+E85 Dyno tune
Sup guys, just got tuned a couple of days ago. Went with admintuning!
2012 G37 Coupe Automatic
Mods:
Z1 2.5" CAI
Berk resonated testpipes
Ark Grip Catback Exhaust
Running E85
She made 339 WHP 🙌
Makes we wonder if I upgraded to 3" CAI & added Long tube headers 🥵
She moves & sounds great!
