Oil burning metal in plug
Oil burning metal in plug
Bought a 2011 g37x with 48000 on the clock. Checked the oil at fill up and it was low. Added a quart and it looked really dirty so i had a change done. 400 miles later low again. Brought it in for a consumtion test under warranty. 500 miles later, dead miss on cylinder #1. Pulled the spark plug to find it looked oil fouled so I started to clean it up and it looks like metal between the electrodes? Does nissan still have a precat reversion problem???

Good question. Given the potential internal damage, I figure they'd be requesting oil change receipts (or at least proof of purchase for oil/filters/etc). Did you buy this from a private party or dealership?
What is infiniti telling you?

I'm in the middle of a consumption test. I was told if the motor blows i will get a new one since they have the stick tagged and i can't check it. It started clacking on the top end and losing power yesterday so i parked it. We'll see how this goes.
Just informed today that they took a borescope to the number 1 and 2 cylinders and they are scored. DUH. They then said they looked down the fill hole as well and saw some sludge. They again asked for service records and basically told me I'm ****ed on getting anything under warranty. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
