is it safe to redline in every gear? g37
In the summer, I can honestly say that at least twice a week, I turn the TC off and have some fun. But rarely would I redline. Shifting at 7500 is awkward, and so much smoother between 6-7k.
When I was a kid in the long ago, not a day would go by without ticking over 100 mph. Chalk that up to an idiot existence of suburban invincibility

I think this is a bit of a trick question.
Yes it's safe as engine controls will prevent an overrev condition (at least on the automatic). However, repeated high rpm operation over the long term will wear the engine out quicker. You may not experience any issues immediately, but down the road I'm sure oil consumption and blow by will increase more so than on an engine that's not operated at high rpm, especially for extended periods. In addition, more wear and tear on other drive line components.
But, it's your car, if you want to play, by all means do so, but do it in a controlled environment and not where others' person and/or property may be injured/damaged.

yes I redline once a day but always merging on the hyw, usually 3rd 40-90.
then traffic time
No problem shifting smoothly at 7500 rpm either, but I'm a youngster with quick reflexes
It is kind of interesting, seeing the different things that people value out of the same car.
It was only 15*F today in Upstate NY... if I went WOT to redline, I think you would hear my car for miles.

alot of great info here, thanks.
I just tried waiting until almost redline switching 1st to 2nd and i was surprised how sort 2nd gear was. right when i shifted on 1st gear at redline, the 2nd gear was almost already at redline, i had to do a quick shift to 3rd. something i have to get used to.
also i got a question, lets say im driving 50-60mph and put it in manual, then put in 3rd gear and punch it, i get that quick acceleration but sometimes i notice a slight squealing sound "when almost at redline", what is that my transmission? as soon as i switch to the next highest gear it stops.
i only hear this when I'm driving at high mph, put to lower gear and punch it hard.

another question, i have never done donuts in my life and in a safe place i want to try it, from what someone told me i want to do it in manual mode to better control everything, correct? if so, when i punch it in 1st gear and its almost at redline, is it safe to stay in that gear as im doing donuts? or should i switch it to second gear mid donut?
