2011 7 Speed AT Sport - Differential question
Does a 2011 g37 sedan 7AT sport come with a factory VLSD differential or an open differential??
Trying to find out a clear answer online but not having much luck.
My car is at the dealership with diff issues.. trying to get it sorted between the original shop who purchased the quiafe diff and installed it with gears, quaife and infiniti.
The axel does not lock in place supposedly leaving only the seal to prevent it from coming loose. Anyone who can comment on the factory setup... appreciate it
It seems that the manuals come with a VLSD by default. But reading online its possible the 7AT in the sport model come with a VLSD instead of the open??

the 6MT G37S sedans come standard with the VLSD. the 7AT RWD sedan with the 'sport package' (also called G37S) get the VLSD as well. no other factory sedan configuration comes with the VLSD. i.e. the non-sport journey RWD (G37), X (G37x), and XS (G37xS) models do not have the VLSD.
hope this helps.

To answer your question in short... all RWD Sedans with Sport Package will have VLSD.
Found this on z1 website...
Quaife Differentials require no modification to install in a Base model vehicle with open style factory diff. However if your car is equipped with a factory LSD you have two possible options to properly isntall an aftermarket Limited Slip Differential:
A) Purchase a Base Model LSD and add the optional $140 Stub Shaft assmebly
B) Purchase the Factory LSD Model Differential and DO NOT purchase the $160 Stub Shaft assembly, this will require the long stub shaft to be machined.
Please note: Both versions of the Quaife Differentail are identical in operation and specifications.
When installing this differential into your factory case you will find that removing the bearings on the diff to be nearly impossible. Choose to add a new side bearings and seals as an option below.
