4.08 Gear/Pinion Installed.
I got on some ****ty stock size tires
and about to upgrade to that same size. was loking more at hankook and nitto tires though. 2nd gear in my G is disrepectful!
My initial impressions were pretty much what I expected. Improved acceleration across the board. The car is more aggressive now and feels great. The best way I can describe the improvement in acceleration is this: Imagine how the car feels on a hot summer day - sluggish, bogged down, slow to wind up -(this would be stock). Now imagine a cool winter morning with no passengers in the car and only an 1/8th of a tank a gas, when the car feels like it's much quicker. ---- That's the difference.
OP, did you do this to a stock 6MT, or are you modified at all... intake, exhaust, suspension, clutch pedal, etc?
Especially when it's warm outside. The tires are nice and sticky.
Not to mention, the increased width looks great. Especially from the *** view.

Very pleased with the Potenza S-04 Pole Positions so far. Great tires for the price.
Even when I was inquiring about 4 or 5 different tires, the manager at Discount Tires right away agreed that the Pole Positions were the best tire for the price range.
Ride even feels smoother and quieter.
Nice, concise review. Parts, cost & time to install by a professional, and a tempered response. While it's fun to read Hell-YA! enthusiasm from someone with a new mod, you kept things real. 4.083 gears and bushings have been in my schedule for a while now, currently slated for Spring of 2016. Sure didn't read anything here to make me change my mind. On the contrary.

I am actually bone stock, except for the 4.08s.
I figured I could spend almost as much for just a cat-back installed or I could get something that would make a significant difference in performance.
I still plan on getting a Stillen Gen-3 intake, Fast Intentions Cat-back ( or something similar), Motordyne intake Manifold and an Up-Rev Tune.
Also plan on getting KW-V1 Coilovers. Probably next on the list.
And naturally I want to upgrade the wheels and tires. But for now I am content with the Sport 19s and upgraded tires.
The car is almost paid off, so I want to wait till it is free and clear until I go crazy with mods.

I felt the same way about researching the 4.08 mod. The more I read about it, the more I wanted it, lol.
That's pretty impressive.
Most people seem to work their way up through typical bolt-ons before doing something like this. For a moment there, when I was reading the comment "sluggish, bogged down, slow to wind up", I was a little confused with the description... although slow-to-wind-up is a fair assessment no matter what the mod.
Looking at your plans, WilCo1... catbacks are nice, and in my case it was a welcome surprise to discover more mid-range grunt, but really it's the cats where you gain power across the board.

I really just meant that stock acceleration compared to 4.08 acceleration feels slower, takes longer to run through the RPMs.
I just wanted to provide a more realistic description of the improvement in performance. I don't want people to think that getting the 4.08 turns your G into this crazy torque monster, because it doesn't. It just improves acceleration all across the board, and makes the car a lot more enjoyable to drive.
I know it's been said a bunch of times, but I think the car should have came this way from the factory, imo.
Personally, I don't care because I only drive my G about 5k/yr.
Yes gas mileage does take a hit for this gears.. I went from over 30mpg on the highway to about 24-25 depending on my driving.. but then again I didn't mod for car to worry about gas mileage..
If that was my priority, I would have bought an Altima, Civic or a Hybrid.
At this point, with the 4.08, I'm still content with my current gas mileage.
