Whatcha think about Ethanol Free Gas

WaWa is finally coming to Florida. They open down here in Cape Coral on Thursday. They offer ethanol free gas.
Now that "should" give better MPG. There is more energy in gasoline than in ethanol.

But it is 90 octane. Now remember Octane is not an energy rating per se. It is the indicator that tells us the amount of compression that we can have without detonating.

Whatcha think?

When I run Ethanol-free 91 I get 10% better mpg then when I run 10% Ethanol crap, wish the Ethanol ship would sail but too many hands in the cookie jar I'm afraid

They have had WaWa in Orlando for over a year (I know from visiting) Glad to see that you are getting one where you are. As for the Eth-free, I wish I could help you out, but I honestly have no idea, and unfortunately don't know of a place near me to test it out.

Been using WAWA gasoline with 10% ethanol for years here in New Jersey

I only use regular 87 octane and get excellent highway mileage without using cruise control and tires inflated at 35lbs when cold.
I don't really care whether ethanol is mixed with it or not.

I get pretty good MPG with it.

Hope your car does not have "knocking" down on the road.

I believe our G37 engines require gasoline with premium 90 octane or higher

Most modern fuel-injected cars have knock sensors so you *can* run lower octane fuel.
The ECU will compensate for the pinging by retarding the ignition timing to make it stop although this will certainly impact engine power and efficiency.
Our engines are designed to perform best with premium gas. The best choice is to use the grade of gas your owners manual advises. For the G37 it is minimum 91 Octane.

And I have!

I always use the cheapest regular 87 octane .

Not my best choice!

Waste of money in my opinion.

I've saved thousands of dollars over past years with the use of 87 octane with no ill effects on any engine.

14 years and over 100k miles on my 92 Lexus
7 years and 171796 miles on my previous 2006 G35
almost 3 years and 58k miles on my current 2012 G37S
