7at ds mode

When in ds mode it seems to drive fine then occasionnally after braking hard it gets "stuck" in gear when cruising. Seems to sit reving at 4g even though i am on flat land driving at a steady speed. Even if i try to let off a little to force a upshift , it wont. Is this normal? I have been just forcing it up a gear with the manual option. Then just upshift around 4g....and let it downshift by itself.

Not sure if this is your issue or not, BUT if you notice on the dash, when you slap the stick over to sport mode, it will read "DS" on the info display, right? But if at any point, you manually downshift, then the "DS" mode will get canceled and you are in manual shift mode. At that point, the car will only downshift for you if you slow your speed enough (usually to a complete stop), otherwise it will stay in that gear. To avoid this, slap it back into auto, then slap it back into sport so that it reads "DS" on the dash. As long as it says "DS" then it will take care of all the shifting for you, but again, like I said, if you ever decide to take over, it will cancel the "DS" mode and show you what gear you are in and stay there.

Again, not sure if that's the problem or if you already know all this and your problem is more involved. Hope that helps you though.

I have had this happen a couple of times and it startled me. I think v1mirage's explanation is spot on...

Mine holds a gear at times. It's like it expects me to gun it at any moment so it stays in a lower gear. Eventually, it shifts.

Yes i am I am in DS automode when this is occuring...not in ds manual mode. If i punch it, it revs and shifts eventually ...but if i am just cruising it will not upshift. Seems kind of rediculous to drive 5 miles reving at 4 grand. (Thats why i said,i would force the upshift by switching to manual.) ( i dont forget to take,it,out of manual and back into ds auto ) Will this harm the motor/trans riding around at 4000 to 4500? Not used to listening to the rev when in d mode it cruises at 1500....or 2700 at 80 mph on the highway.

Mine does this, but usually when I am really getting into the gas. DS is meant to hold a lower gear longer so that you can launch around a corner or if you're overtaking someone (just examples). DS is still automatic so the car cannot predict what you're going to do. Unlike D, DS will hold the gear and not up shift right away for a more spirited drive. There is a "S" bend right before my parking lot at work and if I throw the shifter into DS right before I turn onto that road and hit the brakes hard it will rev match my down shifts a couple of times, and then when I come out of the corner it will hold 3rd at about 4k rpm through the "S" and then once I'm on the other side of the curves I power out, and with the M370 and Takeda CAI it really makes a huge difference because that's right where all of my torque gains are. I quite enjoy it, maybe a little too much.
