Help Shifter Bushings?
Shifter Bushings?
Hello I have a problem occasionally wl that's been going on for months. Sometimes my shifter feels soft and it's hard to change gears but it goes into every gear and drives perfect. I took it to aamco a while back and they stated that the transmission is fine and clutch and that they would need to go in the shifter and see what needed to be replaced. So I didn't have money and sill haven't fixed it and now I'm going to take it to a mechanic I know and I was wondering if you think the shifter bushings are out since the car shifts fine sometimes and sometimes the shifter goes soft and is a little bit more difficult to shift. I also just changed my clutch and flywheel with a jwt kit like a mo ago but i been having this problem. My car is a 08 g37s with 87k miles 6 speed please help! I want to he this fixed this weekend and want to know what to tell my mechanic.
Sounds like the problem is with master cylinder as I have something similar going on, sometimes it gets a little "sticky" and a little harder to shift but nothing too terrible. It's $125 part and an hour and a half of work to fix.
I replaced that when I had replaced the clutch and with a heavy duty slave cylinder from z1 motorsport. And I been having this problem before the clutch replacement. When I go into 4th gear it all soft and I replaced the master with an oem one
Well here's the thing most of the time I can shift perfect no grinding, when the shifter goes soft it's difficult but still goes into gear and going into 5th from 4th it's difficult only when shifter is soft. But the transmission is working fine because when the shifter is okay it's easy to shift
But I hear on the sticking because when I just got my clutch replaced by aamco i had to get take it back because it stocked and wouldn't go into gear, they had to adjust it and it never happened again.
Should I take it to a transmission shop because my mechanic has a shop but I don't know how much knowledge he can have with these cars he does good work but I need a good diagnostic for it? What do u guys think?

I will have my mechanic look into the shifter first and seeing how the shift plate is and if everything looks fine, and I'll have him take a look at my mounts as well. Are they difficult to replace? I just spent 2k on my clutch and flywheel fix and im just not happy that I still have issues to fix and that the problem is only occurring at times witch is weird the stick shift shifts perfect sometimes then becomes loose and is hard to shift at time it's a pain in the butt I hope my mechanic can determine something Tommorow and he had enough knowledge on it.
No I meant I replaced my flywheel and clutch lol so I took it today to the shop and I was taking to the mechanic and he test drove it but the problem didn't appear and was shifting fine it's such a pain because it's not always lie that it's off and on. He took off the leather around the shifter and couldn't really do more he said he would have to get it in the lift and look more into it to see if it needed adjustment but gave me no solid answer and said he was busy and booked. I think I should of went with aamco a while back when they drove the problem was there and they were going to look into the shifter assembly and linkage and check the cable but I didn't take it back. I think that will be the best solution because this problem is complicated and I have no idea in what direction to go since there's no topics online on soft feel stick shift or any problems associated with the linkage or stick shift itself it's stressing me out but cars works perfect even my mechanic said transmission and everything seems to work fine and aamco did too a while back😔.
Just quick little update on my rare situation so seems like I got diagnosed again with something in my shifter internally. So they are tearing it apart and going to replace what they have to replace. They contacted infiniti and they stated its really rare for those parts to go bad. They quoted me 1k average worst case scenario doping what's part need to be replaced in the shifter. Anyone heard of bushing and springs in the shifter or internally. He said if everything needing to be replaced will be 600 in parts alone and 400 in labor. So confused I wanted to not do it and trade in my car but I have no choice so I went with it and they are working on it now to determine what needs replacing! I have so much bad luck I've already spend 2k on the clutch and now i need to fix my shifter so uncommon. I guess I bought this car all messed up:-(

The shop finally noticed and they stated the shifter is notchy and is almost sure something is damaged
