Spark plug questions

Hey guys, I just hit 100k on my 08 S coupe, and I know at 100k, spark plugs are recommended. Three questions!

1.) How many spark plugs will I need?

2.) What brand is the best quality?

3.) Noticeable gains?

4.) Is it worth it to DIY or should I just pay a shop to do it? If so what would the cost of installation be?

Thanks guys! Any input is greatly appreciated.

get iridium plugs that are recommended by the manufacture. ngk, denso, whom ever has the price you're willing to pay. you need 1 plug for each cylinder.

I haven't changed a spark plug in years.

Do they still need to be gapped..?

the plugs are pre gapped, but I'm old school and always check to be sure. rockauto.com is really reasonable. Dealer quoted me $240.00 for 6... I remember when they cost 99 cents...

There's almost always decent rebates on spark plugs, check autozone/o'reillys etc for their current rebates.

I recently did the same thing. I purchased the exact OEM spark plugs from Rock Auto. That should be the best price. As far as installation, I personally wouldn't learn how to do this unless you've done it before. That is, unless you want to take the time to do this. I paid my local mechanic to install these. He charged me for 2 hours of labor. I thought it was fair, as I didn't have to deal. But, it is totally up to you. Just make sure you purchase the ones ID'd in the owner's manual.

1 per cylinder so 6 spark plugs, I would get Iridium, Platinum is ok as well. Very minor gains due to the fact that your old spark plus are not firing as well as the new ones. It's DIY but it's not the easiest job, lots of things in the way, have to be careful not to strip the bolts and I would label all the wires when removing them as plugging wire 2 into sparkplug 1 will cause all sorts of issues. I think dealer will charge something outrageous like $250.

I used these in my last car and I noticed a little more get up and go...there was a slight hesitation with general plugs. I might get some for the coupe to see if I notice any mpg gains at all. But I have used these and they aren't bad at all. Just a thought
