Have an '08 6MT, pretty much no mechanical savvy (only car I ever worked on was a VW on Guam 30+ yrs. ago 'cause nobody worked there).
Clutch is nearly gone @ 45K miles; true OEM replacement costs ridiculous amount & I'm getting conflicting info from alleged experts about the way to go. Many people say that the dual-mass flywheel is likely still good...so just replace the rest and save a grand while still using true OEM parts everywhere else. Local Transmission Specialist says the dual-mass flywheel being trusted or re-worked is foolish cause most are bad or go bad shortly & that grinding won't work. What, if anything, am I sacrificing if I go the route of a Complete Kit from someplace like Exedy...thus eliminating the dual-mass element that is so costly & ending up with all new components, albeit not OEM & no more forgiving absorption afforded by a dual-mass flywheel. Any help is greatly appreciated

May all your problems go away, This is what we recommend for a complete fix of the dreaded stock clutch problems, If you are not going to upgrade the Stock CSC stick with the stock clutch and stock CSC and hope for the best.
