Diff vent tube replacement
Diff vent tube replacement
Anyone know how to do this? Does it press in from the top or does the diff cover have to be removed to get the old one out?
I saw posts about the NISMO diff cover but nothing on installing the vent tube. The vent tube on my 3.69 diff is broken off at the base of the cover. I need to get it out & replace it with the new one I got.
The FSM doesn't help. Just a diagram of the diff parts. No mention of how to replace just that part.
Thanks

Since no one responded.....
FYI
I took the diff cover off. The vent tube is impossible to remove unless you have some of the tube to pull on from outside the cover. It's wedged between metal bracing on the backside of the cover, you can't get anything in the hole to push up to get the vent tube out..
I wound up buying a new cover & vent tube for $80.

If you have the tube on top to pull up on I think you can. Mine was broken right down to the case hole. Had nothing to pull on. I thought about drilling the thing but saw I could just buy a new one.
PITA to get the new vent tube in. Had to put vise grips around the tube base. Have another pair of hands hold the cover & bang away with a hammer on the vise grips to get started, then bang on a big screwdriver to get the tube seated all the way.. But it's in there. No major damage to the tube.

Sounds like a waste of $80 though. Drill the hole, install a brass nipple, done.
