Clutch pedal changes

I've read that the G37 manual cars have frequent clutch issues, I'm wondering if what's happening with my 08S Coupe is typical.

Frequently, especially when the car hasn't been driven for a while, the top half of the clutch is dead and it engages immediately off the carpet. Usually it changes after a few miles and becomes more progressive and linear. Would this indicate air in the system or something more serious? If it's air in the system is there a particular procedure for bleeding the system?

The one thing I dislike about this car has always been the clutch! The clutch in my C6 Vette Grand Sport is far more communicative and much smoother!

first mistake.. comparing a vette to a G.. vettes have always had a good gearbox.. my dad has a C5.. loves it

I've had the same issue with my clutch pedal.. but I live in Florida and always figured it was the heat that loosened up the spring.. it doesn't happen often enough to really worry about it though..

after a little research I found this.. it's on a g35, but very similar issue: first post

I fixed my sticky clutch pedal - G35Driver

so check the line for leaks, or have the dealer check the clutch master cylinder, otherwise check the nut on the pedal itself

Yes, that means you have air in your system. When I was bleeding my clutch, halfway through the bleeding I tested it and it engaged hard just off the carpet.

The easiest way to bleed the system is to rent a vacuum bleeder from Advance Auto or a similar store(free), and bleed out the fluid while having someone refilling the fluid as it goes down. Vacuum bleeding the system only takes about 5 minutes or so. Use DOT4 brake fluid.

Or you can get a good fix by installed RJM clutch pedal system and have a better clutch feel and the car drives totally different.

Man, this RJM pedal sounds like exactly what this car needs....along with a fluid flush!

So, how big a pain in the butt is the install? I'm sure, like any work under the dash, unless your 4'9" and 65 lbs with long skinny arms and an extra elbow joint its not much fun!

I had similar symptoms last year. Took it to the dealer and they replaced the slave and master cylinder, and refilled with GTR clutch/brake fluid (DOT4 i believe). If you're out of warranty, I'd try to replace the brake fluid first.
