G37S Transmission Question

Hello everyone,

First of all, I probably should have posted this in the "newbie" section, but I am going tomorrow to try and make a deal on a 2010 G37S coupe and hope that since this section gets more views I would get a quicker answer.

Anyway, as far as I know, the "S" variant of the G37 comes with a 6MT. However, today I test drove a G37S with an automatic transmission. It still had the bigger brakes, bigger wheels, and different suspension that differentiate it from the base model, but I am confused as to how it has an automatic transmission since throughout my research I only saw that the S has a 6MT. It did have paddle shifters - are these standard on the regular G37's? If you go on KBB the options for versions of the car does not have an automatic S variant I apologize if this question has a simple answer, but I did search around and couldn't find anything very relevant.

Thanks a lot!

PS on the carfax for the car it lists the model as 2010 G37 base/sport

All 7AT S cars are journey models with the sports package. They have all the perks of the 6MT minus the manual tranny.

The paddle shifters are indeed an option for the automatic. It is still an S though

Those perks include suspension, brakes, wheels, seats, and limited slip differential.

The G37 SPORT is a 6MT
The G37 JOURNEY S is a SPORT with 7AT

On KBB etc add the sport package to a Journey

Another way to look at this is....

6MT always equal G37S
G37S does not always equal 6MT

Unless you decide to go G37Sam on us and rebuild your whole friggin car. Then who knows what you have...
