Broken piece in engine bay?

I discovered that there is a connector piece broken that connect the intake to a hose... help and thoughts on what this piece is and where I can find it?

For something like that, the first place I'd check is a salvage yard. I don't know what the specific proper name is.

I think I broke the exact same piece trying to install the Z tubes. My understanding is that it's unnecessary. Let me check my posts as well.

Is this it?

Looks to be the same. I'm halfway thinking of just using electrical tape to keep it sealed...

Go to the NISSAN dealer nearest you if you can't find it at the salvage yard like Black Betty said. Don't frickin use electrical tape, that piece is part of the PCV system and tape will not last. You're driving an Infiniti not a Neon

Do not bypass the PCV system, especially with electrical tape You need to have the intake pull the oil vapor from the engine or you could blow a piston.

Edit: My mistake, for some reason I thought you meant you were going to bypass it with tape.

Can anyone explain the exact function of these resonators?

If it is indeed the resonator, you don't need it. I would imagine you would have throw a code if it was vital.

Infiniti diagnosed it as a "Breather box connector" and said that it's part of the entire air intake assembly. Unfortunately, the piece itself can't be ordered...

Anyone have any idea what the breather box connector is exactly?

Try a good auto parts store if there is one close to you, and see if they have a 90 degree plastic fitting that will fit in between the hoses. As long as you can make the connection between the hoses that's all that matters. If that doesn't pan out you might be able to get something in plastic or brass from the hardware store. The piece you showed a picture of is not resonator it's a connector and it is definitely necessary. Did you talk to the parts dept. at the dealership or a service writer? Good Luck, and I would definitely try what Black Betty sugggested.

Just take out the pipe and use epoxy on the crack

Look at page 26. It looks like it is part number 14, which is the whole tube.

Frankly over the long haul I don't think any type of glue will hold. IMHO just get the part and be done with it.

They always break. For tech info go to the370z.com forum. This forum is extremely behind on stuff like this as I'm sure modding is much less with less tech stuff getting done.

You don't need it. Most put a filter on the PCV breather hose and block the inlet hose. I'd still run it to the inlet so go get a 90* bent fitting in plastic or brass and just replace it from lowes.
