The cage that bolts up ..not the pumpkin itself. Much like BB mentioned above. It does seems to damage the splines if you get on it to much after that lets go - because that will free spin...i stopped pretty quickly and didn't trash the splines.

I contacted the Drive Shaft Shop regarding a Level 2 G37 application. They make the $2200 Pro Level axles I linked to earlier. For the 350Z/G35 application there's also a more reasonably priced Level 2 alternative that runs $800 as well as a Level 5 version that's $1700
The Driveshaft Shop | NISSAN 2003-2008 350Z / G35 500HP Level 2 Axles - 350Z / G35 - Nissan - Import Axles
The Driveshaft Shop | NISSAN 2003-2008 350Z / G35 900HP Level 5 Axles - 350Z / G35 - Nissan - Import Axles

The message I got in return is "I can look into it. Check with me Monday." I'll update with here with any info I get.

That level 2 comes out much cheaper ($400) than buying stock axles!

I love when you can find upgrade replacements for less than stock parts!

Thanks for this post. I think I might've just snapped my axle. Worst feeling ever, gotta head to the dealer tomorrow morning...
