NA Power Mods Worhtless?
Custom CAI- $290
Used LTH- $350
Custom CBE- $450
No tune yet but it costs $400-450 here
At the moment I have 295hp but no 100% base line to go off of. Before dyno was no LTH but everything else at 280Hp. I'm thinking 270ish hp would of been bone stock. So I'm $43.60 at the moment. I'd hope a tune would at least be 15hp so $37.25. In the end.
However I am playing with the notion to port the throttle bodies, manifold and runners the mani sits on then tune. That porting will probably be about $380.
you'll get close. My stock run was 267 WHP and after intake ,catback and tune was 298 WHP. I had the same car took out the tune and added HFC's and made 300 with a tune I would have picked up a few more. So close
Agreed wih lh what's been said , since I've been done both roads . I dropped the 10+I on FI And had a super fun time with a fast car ... That being said I didn't even get a year out of it before the motor blew (14k miles ) now I'm going back down the other road NA and bolted to have a sedan or coupe that looks like ours and has all the bells and wistles and be over 300WHP is worth it IMO . Just be true to yourself and you'll be happy
I built everything, but if you can't install a CAI or CBE you're simple not a man. I can name a dozen women that can do that easy of a job with their eye closed. "iF" you can't do it then Jesus buy some beer and have a few friends over. In the G, Z community you should be able to find a dozen souls with ease to help out.

Not implying you can't. There should be no labor charges for anyone besides pizza and beer.
Car and parts are gone, Using a different tuner FOR SURE when I'm doing NA,

BUDWEISER-$25.00
GoJo- $7.00
Shop rags- $2.50
sub total- $34.50 + $1925
Grand Total- $1959.50 / 35-40 WHP
New $/HP ratio= $55.99-$48.99 / BWHP

Still not $100/WHP thank god. Now, back on topic, I'm waiting for the names and ages of those 12 women.

My Harley is a different story though. That propably is every bit of $100/WHP if not more.
I guess since my "man card" is at stake I should add that I DIY every performance mod.

Jack,
The VQ engine is already producing around 90hp/l in stock form. That means Nissan has already eliminated most of the restrictions and bottlenecks that you normally go after to hop up an NA engine. Your "shoulda, coulda woulda 335" tag line ... yeah, the 335 N54 engine is one of my all time favorites, combined with the wonderful clutch and 6-speed. Easy to hop up by chipping, too. But ... Rest of the car ... I like the G better. Run flats ... and you'd better keep a warranty in force and be ready to sell before it expires. If you kept an N54 335 for 10 years, I bet your cost of ownership could be 2X a G37. And the 335 will never be as fast as a CTS-V.
