Crank but no start 08 Coupe HELP
Hello!
I've looked around the site and think quite a few members have had a similar problem as mine.
I moved the car the other day from the driveway into the garage due to snow. It's bitterly cold here in the Northeast. Anyway, I didn't warm up the engine and drove maybe 20 feet. Shut off the car and went about my business.
Monday morning, I go to start the car and it just cranks but no start. Battery seems fine. I experienced the dreaded "limp mode" after stalling the engine and trying to start right away, and am thinknig this might be something simlar. Maybe the VVEL needs to be rest?
Any thoughts? Should I diconnect the negative terminal and retry?
I dont think this is something that needs to be taken to the dealer especially since it wont run and I dont want to ahve to pay for a tow....

how long is it cranking for?
when you say it cranks, how long do you let it crank? are you holding down the start button while its cranking? how old is the battery and how do you know its still good? how long ago was the car last started before moving into the garage? have you tried boosting it even if you think battery is good?

if you move the car a lot and shut off without proper warming you will have carbon build up, and spark plugs filled with carbon.
could also be bad gas with some impurities/water residue

So to answer some questions and to give an update, i've got the following:
it's an 08 S coupe. Got 85k miles on the clock. It's my daily driver so I don't have any issues with bad gas.
The battery is brand new as of 3 months ago. Had the vent valve replaced as part of the battery drain issue along with a new battery. So I don't think the cranking amps was a problem.
last night, i went home, undid the negative terminal and let the ecu reset. Tried to turn the car over again, and...nothing. just crank crank crank. tried for a few minutes and didn't want to flood the engine. so this morning i called the tow truck to take the ried to the dealer...the two operator comes out, hits the start button and voila. car starts.
i felt pretty ridculous and it cost me $75 bucks, but at least the car is running.

Can you actually flood the engine of g37?
is this auto or manual and were you giving gas while cranking?
this happens a lot for work. customer will complain of equipment not working (won't power up) then i get there press power and it powers up not problem.
