If your stock time to go to the dealership.
My guess would be a bad 02 sensor, or you have a vacuum leak.
IMO
If you have mods, please list.
The list of problems emissions can be endless.

You should get a tune, you have changed exhaust flow pattern.
Although I would add a intake or any other bolt ons you may be doing in the near future.
No wonder your afrs all all crappy, it's running lean.
Plus you should check the y pipe & mufflers.
Did you do the install or professional, sounds like you also may have bad .02 sensor.
Stock cats?
Sounds like to much exhaust with no where to go.
You need a tune, anyone agree?
I used to get p0430 cat code, bank 1 with aftermarket HFCs & exhaust.
You need a real scan tool, autozone is s $50 scan tool.
Plus they won't clear any codes, so your going to have to figure out what's the problem.

That code is emissions related, obviously. First, carefully check for any exhaust leaks at every place where it can leak. If there is no leak, then it is possibly a bank 1 O2 sensor. If not that, then a faulty cat. Check them in that order, form easiest/cheapest to most difficult/most expensive. At any point where you find the fault (or think you have found it), reset the ECU after repair. If the code returns after a while, move on to the next issue.

Good luck.

will replacing a stock muffler with another stock cause this code? I know this is just crazy to ask but it was mentioned that if the exhaust flow is changed this can possibly trigger this code. that sensor was replaced with one from the dealer when code first came on.

ive been having such bad luck with this car...smh

No. Replacing stock for stock should not throw a code.

As a first step: I would reset the code and see how long it takes to come back on.

Dot mean to hi jack this thread but I've been dealing with this ever since I installed the rhfc. The light used to take a couple of day to come back on. I reinstalled the stock cars and the light comes back on in a couple of hours. What does that tell you as far as diagnosis is concerned?

I would do a ECU reset too if you change cats. https://www.myg37.com/forums/d-i-y-i...isconnect.html

If the CEL comes on within a few minutes of a drive "under 3k rpm" it is a sign of a bad sensor (possible O2).

A cheap way to help diagnose is to get a ELM327
link link
OBD2 to bluetooth and use a app called Torque. Then you can log the output of both the O2 sensors or other sensor too see if anything looks off.

I recently was getting 2 codes after installing HFCs. Turns out my intake tube by the tb wasn't connected all the way. If it's a vac leak code check the gas cap, exhaust leaks like stated above and also the intakes to make sure everything is tight.

SIGH...im so pissed...my insurance company's tow truck jacked my car more than i could have imagined. didnt realize that one of my exhaust tips was pushed in about 2-3 inches further in comparison to the other side. found that on that side there was a missing bolt from the header to the cat. replaced bolt and sensor and still got this code.

i dont HEAR any leaks but when I inspected last i didnt feel anything around any of the connections. im in the process of trying to get a smoke test performed and then continue diagnosing from there. next move is going to be to take it to the dealer and hope theyre smart enough to not mess around.

had a smoke test and no leaks were found visually. the smoke machine is showing there is a leak but very small. engine light comes on after a few hundred miles. like 500 plus.
-------
when looking at the scan tool (snap-on) the vehicle is showing lean status all the time and the o2 sensors are above the referenced 1.5 volts? 2.04 was shown. any ideas? REALLY dont want to have to take it to the dealer.
