Bouncing off redline in 7AT?

I tried searching for the answer to this question but I couldn't find it! I'm sure it has been asked before but I had no luck in searching. I swear I tried!

The question is: if I put my 7AT into manual mode and redline a gear, will the transmission automatically shift at redline or will it just keep the engine bouncing off the redline until I shift it?

I didnt feel comfortable running an experiment so I thought I would ask lol.

It'll bounce off redline. It'll downshift to keep you from stalling if the revs drop but it does not up shift. You get to be race car-y. Brrrr-RR-RR-RR!

?? In manual mode - If you are moving upward through the gears, it's my understanding that the trannie will shift into the next higher gear at redline automatically.

It hasn't the times I've bumped against it. Have you experienced something different? Hitting the rev limiter doesn't make your engine explode, idk why everyone is so scared of it.

I've also never had it upshift when hitting the rev limiter, it just sounds like you accidently put your car in neutral at 7k rpm

The car does not upshift. As you approach redline there's a fuel cutoff that occurs that slows the car down.

After the uprev tune, the tuner pushed my redline to 8K revs.

I've never tried it on the new 13' 7AT. However, on my 04 5AT, I thought it would shift automatically to the next highest gear. Now I'm questioning my assumption. Truth be known, I've never experimented much in this area.

it will bounce of the redline, nothing bad but hitting the cutoff is like hitting a train, nothing pleasant

Believe me the soft fuel cut is preferable to the automatic upshifts i"m forced to endure when driving my S4. That upshift is the single 'feature' is hate the most in other car brands.

Something else that I love about my G37 is the fact that it does not upshift as long as the steering wheels is turned past a certain angle in sport mode. In the S4 I'm really there to provide suggestions and not really direct whats going on.

From the Owner's Manual:

"In the manual shift mode, the transmission may not shift to the selected gear or may automatically shift to the other gear. This helps maintain driving performance and reduces the chance of vehicle damage or loss of control."

Sounds like it could work either way?

I think this is referring to going to temporary manual mode from D or when the car will drop down in gears while slowing. It will also prevent you from upshifting to a higher gear to prevent you from lugging the engine.

I've hit redline enough to know it won't upshift at redline.

The newer transmissions will jump up gears. I think they started that in 2013, neither of my 2011 Z or G would upshift in manual mode. Down shift yes but not upshift.
