2011 g37 oil change interval

Hello,

My first post on the forum. I own a CPO 2011 G37 Journey with about 46600 miles on the odometer. My last oil change was exactly 3500 miles ago and I put in synthetic oil at the dealer. My question is do I need to continue on the recommended oil change interval or could I extend the oil change until about 10k miles?

Also the dealer suggested I do the 46k mile maintaence...which runs about $450...which seems insane....not sure if its worth it. What is your advice?

My driving habits...daily commute 12 miles/day .... and usually weekend drives on the fwy ~200 miles.

Thanks for the advice

Welcome to the forum. There's tons of threads and posts on oil change intervals, synthetic and otherwise. Search for threads on used oil analysis (UOA) and you'll find info.

FWIW I used to change every 5k w/ Synthetic but now go 7500 miles. I think 10k would be pushing it. The VQs have very small oil filters and run pretty hot so IMO I wouldn't go past 7500 miles, but that's just me.
I'd wait until 60k miles for the bigger service items but keep an eye on your brake pads & fluid.

Oh, and welcome to the site!

I use ester oil which is a step above synthetic, and I still change mine around 7500km

12 miles of city or highway driving? I do about the same amount of daily driving as you but all stop and go, so I stick with the 3750 interval. If it was CPO shouldn't they have done the service on the car before putting it up on the lot for sale???

From: Framingham Ma,
Everyone on here has their own theory and what oil and when to change their oil. I did my first change at 700 miles and then do them at 2500-3000 miles like clock work with Mobil 1 full synthetic, I'm not saying follow me and change it every 3k but remember our engines do run hot.

But again I'm crazy LOL

I go with Mobil1, set the interval at 3500 and make sure to get it done before 5k miles. Many will call that overkill but that's the process I have used for a LONG time, none of my cars ever have engine issues or burn any oil and I keep them 10-12 years, well over 100k miles.

Don't cheap out on the life blood of your car. If you can afford an Infiniti and the gas to put in it (not to mention mods), you can afford oil.

Wow thank you all for the response! I think I'm convinced to at least do the oil change every 3500-5000 and hold off on the routine service for a bit. I do drive the car pretty hard...fast accelerations and all.

You have a good point. I was just scared away by the huge maintenance bill. But I will do another oil change. Do you do your oil changes yourself or take it to a dealer?

I am on my 3rg G. I up till this year have always went to the dealer for oil changes and never heard this. The dealers use Mobil 1 around here.

^Ditto. In Louisville, the dealership uses Mobil 1 and recommend that it be changed every
5K.

This statement is thoroughly untrue. It's not even remotely close to being correct.

We bought our G used from a Nissan Dealer and part of the sale was free 3year/36month oil change (with dyno oil). I took the car in with my own oil to get it done no charge. After the promo ended I'm pretty lucky, I have a very trustworthy shop right across the street so they do it. I still bring my own Mobil1 (buy at Costco). Perhaps if the G wasn't so low I would do it myself. but for $21 (plus my oil) it's well worth my time and oil disposal.

Ha ha! Black Betty tell your "boyfriend" to simmer down, he doesn't know what he's talking about! Seriously though gap girl, they cannot dictate what oil you use. All major manufacturers are fine as long as you do it at suggested intervals....
