Clutch chatter in 09, is anyone else experiencing this?

Hey guys,

I have a 09 Manual Sports package with about 38k on it. When the clutch is engaged and the car is revved (such as when starting the car or creeping up at a light) there is a loud rattle.

I have taken this into Infiniti twice already and have a meeting with the District Infiniti Engineer next week but basically they are telling me this sound is normal but there are only 30 complaints of this sound.

Through researching the forums I heard some people call it clutch chatter, ultimately im wondering if anyone else is experiencing this sound also? I know this is common with aftermarket clutches but im pretty sure mine is stock.

It's so annoying, i just upgraded from a 03 G35 that never sounded like this!

I have the same issue in my 2012 sedan it only has 3300 miles on it. I have an appointment later this week. Hopefully they don't tell me it's normal.

I've talked to someone who had this issue in 370z, im scared this really might just be a normal sound. It sounds so bad

Let me know what your Infiniti says

They're transmission make a lot of noise.
Mine doesn't when I rev it, but once u sit and disengage the clutch u hear it. Also when I turn the car off, it rattles itself to sleep.

I had the same issue and dealer said something was not right with flywheel. They changed it under warranty.

Dealer checked it out and says its normal. I'll let it ride unless it gets worse.

Update

Dealer has replaced the clutch, pressure plate, throw out bearing and slave cylinder but the sound is still happening after warmup. Dealer and Infiniti USA are now replacing the transmission because they have diagnosed issue down to the input shaft bearing on the transmission. I should be getting my car back on Monday if the issue is resolved.

Uuhh, yeah. That is definitely not "normal". I'm sure the new gearbox will solve the internal problem for you. Plus, you already have a new clutch system. Sounds like you should be all set to go. Good for you to not settle for the old "normal" play that some dealers try.

I had the same issue. The dealer replaced my entire clutch under warranty. The noise was gone. For about a day. Then it started again. It rattles itself to sleep when you turn off the car. Annoying....

Just shy of 12K in my 2012. I hear a slight rattle if I don't feed it enough throttle on take off. Nothing like in the video above. The marbles in a can like noise is normal on most MT's, especially with the clutch engaged in neutral.

Ya same hear my manual rattles just ever so slightly with no throttle but once I touch the throttle it goes away, I guess that's normal in these cars?
