Question about tuning

Hey All,

I have searched the forum, but this question doesnt seem to have been answered.

I realize I'll need to get a tune if I do enough bolt on mods.

I would like to get a new intake, ART Pipes, and a CBE. With all three, I would definitely need a tune.

I know the computer will need to be reset after these mods

My question is, I live in South Florida, go to school in Gainesville, and the tune shops that have been recommended are in atlanta (Forged and Z1), (5 and 10 hours away respectfully from South Florida) would it be safe to drive the car to Gainesville, and then a little bit later, Atlanta?

From what people have wrote when i searched, the car will be running lean, could there be any damage by running it in this "gimped" state?

Thank you all,

Sam B

P.S. if this has been answered, im sorry, i looked.

I ran my car with the mods you listed and more with no tune for about a year without issue. You'll be fine.

Any lean condition is only harmful at wide open throttle, high load, high RPM situations.
The ECU compensates fairly well at low and moderate speeds.

this is why I ask, My drive is 5 hours on the highway which is constant 80, and 5 hours to atlanta all high way as well. wouldnt that be considered a high load and open throttle?

It'll be 100% fine. The vast majority of members of the forum who have exhaust and intake mods have never gotten a tune and never will. The ECU will compensate just fine.

I'll add something.

Even though you'll be perfectly fine modding and not getting a tune, you should reset your ecu after each breathing mod you add.

Naw, 80mph, you barely crack the throttle, and the RPMs are under 3K!!
