Hey everyone … So lately, after I got a new transmission under warranty last year, I have been noticing/feeling some weird things about my clutch while shifting at high rpm (redline). Let’s say I am in 2nd gear and I revv it up to redline and shift into 3rd, the clutch feels like it doesn’t want to release the previous gear and shift into 3rd. The rpms don’t drop and stay constant at redline for couple of seconds and then finally the gear engages to 3rd. The acceleration suffers drastically if this happens for the first few seconds (constant rpm) and the car slowly feels like picking up as the gear engages. If i floor the gas pedal right after releasing the clutch, it takes even longer to shift into next gear and the RPM drag (constant) is worse.
Now, I took my car out of storage this week and wished it didn’t show those symptoms again but it’s even worse than before now. This evening while returning back from my meeting out of town (long drive back home), I tried to replicate the issue quite a few times and it happened at every single instance. However, never noticed this before but, today I had my windows rolled down and I could smell burnt clutch when this happened. Wasn’t too much but I know how a burnt clutch smells.
Also, if I don’t shift at redline, it doesn’t seem to give me this issue however I do feel that the gear doesn’t engage properly.
I have never had a clutch slipping on me before so I have no clue how that would feel. Is it that?
Some details on the car .. Transmission changed at 62,000 kms by a reputable dealership (brand new, not re-manned) and currently am at 70,000. I have always been driving stick shifts so please; I do know how to drive a manual.
I will be booking an appointment with the same dealership in the upcoming weeks. Thought I would get opinion from you guys here first.
If really needed, I will try to post a video for the same. Will get my brother to record it from passenger seat.
Has anyone of you experienced this with your cars? Any suggestions would be highly appreciated before I go with a “blank” face to the dealership.

On a manual transmission, once you put the gear shifter into 3rd, it's in 3rd. It's not a gear engagement issue, it really sounds like your clutch is on its way out. To check if you have a bad clutch, get up to about 55-65, put it in 6th and floor it, if your RPMs rise faster than they should, in other words, the RPMs go up but you're not gaining any speed, then yeah, you need a new clutch.
Also, it could be that your clutch engagement setting is set too high, if that's the case, then banging through the gears quick can cause the clutch to not actually catch and spin to the moon, hence all the RPMs but no oomph, not to mention the smell. However, I'm not sure if the engagement point is adjustable on our transmissions. I do know that some people had their transmission replaced under warranty because the older the car got, the higher the engagement point would become.

^^ Thanks for the quick response
Oh i definitely know its not the transmission for sure which is why i said it "feels" like the gear doesnt wanna engage.
The acceleration is pretty good in 6th gear especially in the way you mentioned. My RPM's dont act crazy AT ALL .. period. Other than obviously in this particular scenario i described in my original post
