Carbon Fiber Driveshaft Group Buy??
#47
Bryan@PowertrainIndustries has replied back in regards to Group Buy discounts:
"I would have to wait until I know exactly where are pricing is gonna lie. *But typically I have given 10% off for group buys. When considering the cost of these types of shafts, this usually equals out to about $100-$150 off. *If we are talking 20 or so... I can always make it worth your while. *I project these shafts to be normal retail around the $1250-$1350 *mark.*
Thanks"
C'mon! Let's make it worth while! Let's rack in 20 people for the Group Buy lol.
We still need OEM factory driveshaft donors to get this all going!! At least for Powertrain Industries. Someone drop by their shop for the R&R!!

Bryan@PowertrainIndustries emailed back after I asked about another option for R&R just incase we don't have donors:
"Understood. *Having someone bring in their car though would only take up a few hours of their time per visit. *We would only need to*disable*the car for a short period of time while we R&R the shaft.*
However, this would be done during the week, and I can understand how it could be difficult finding someone willing, let alone local to us. *The other option is buying a salvaged shaft for a couple hundred. *I just tend not to trust the data the shaft may be labeled as. *I will do some searching though for this option."*

So max of $1350-min of $100 off = $1250 max price for these bad boys.
Min of $1250 - Max of $150 off = $1100
So price should be $1100 - $1250.... is that for the 20 drive shafts? and do we get any more off if we get more people?
Thank you again for the info Bong1012. GTM has never responded to my emails....

From what I understood,
Bryan@PowertrainIndustries "typically" has a 10% discount ($100-$150 off) for Group Buys. Anything from 20 people (20 driveshafts) or more for the Group Buy will get a bigger discount for sure.
Retail price for these Carbon Fiber driveshafts range from $1250-$1350. I'm HOPING for us to get them for $1000 or less lol.
But like he said, he has to see where the pricing lies. I guess based on what's needed to build our G37 Carbon Fiber driveshafts.
We need volunteers for G37 coupes/sedans to drop by their shop for R&R!!

If or when we do, I will let both PST and Powertrain Industries know.
I guess which ever one provides us the best deal gets our business?
Guys, dont be shy. Let me know any suggestions or what you think so that we can work towards getting the best deal possible!

Guys as much as I want to get the ball rolling with our Carbon Fiber driveshafts in production I do need your help.
From what I've been thinking, we have TWO options:
Option 1:
People (Coupe/Sedan, Manual/Auto, RWD/AWD) have to volunteer to go to Powertrain Industries so they can make measurements and actually make us a Carbon Fiber driveshaft.
7532 Anthony Ave. Garden Grove, CA 92841
Its hard for us to negotitate a Group Buy discount when we don't a driveshaft mocked up nor do we have a solid 15-20 people on the list.
Maybe the ones who volunteer get a bigger discount worked out amongst us all in the Group Buy for putting in thier efforts.
Option 2:
We wait for Mark@PST to come back on Feb 19th and see what he can do for us.
Let me know what you guys think.

Do you know if the 5AT OEM driveshaft is the same size and specs as the 6MT?
Well if we don't have any volunteers to drop by Powertrain Industries for the R&R then I guess we won't have a choice but to wait for Mark@PST to come back on Feb 19th.
Well like Bryan@PowertrainIndustries said, just make sure the driveshaft you're buying online as the donor for R&R is what they say it is. I still think it would be best if someone was to drive their G37 to their shop for measurements. Then test fit afterwards when a Carbon Fiber driveshaft prototype is made.

^^lol that may be true...
I'm just hoping when Mark@PST comes back, he already has his own way to design a G37 Carbon Fiber driveshaft instead of hoping someone to be their donor for R&R. That way once its made we can recruit whom ever that is actually serious for the Group Buy list. Right now its just based all on interest which is also good for potential.
