Exclamation Question... How to tell if I already have an UpRev tune?

Hey everyone,

This may come across as a dumb question, but the car I purchased has an aftermarket intake and exhaust. It wasn't installed from the previous owner, but they guy before that.

Is their anyway to know if the car already has an UpRev tune? From what I read, you would need one if you have a aftermarket intake/exhaust due to the stock computer being unable to compensation for the new A/F ratios.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Thx.

when the car is parked and started, pull down the cruise control (coast/set) for 2 sec. then at the same time it is pulled down hit the cancel button, then let go. if a dash light immediatley flashes for the number of times you pushed the cancel button then you have an up-rev tune. More than likely you don't have one, most people do not bother getting them with just an intake and exhaust.

Thanks I'll try that. When it is worth getting an Up-Rev tune other than going FI?

Someone said in a post a while ago "if your car has 2 or more "breathing" mods, then it's worth getting a tune".

I have been going by that advice and will be getting a tune soon as the new exhaust/HFC are installed and broken in.

But opinions will vary.

the cost of tune varies from $300-$800 depending upon who does it, whether a dyno is used or if you get a etune what software is used. I got mine after i had finished with all the bolt ons i was going to get as far as power adders go. if you can afford it get a new tune after every upgrade but i suggest saving it till you are a stopping point in power mods otherwise you will just need to go back and get another one. Unless of course your car is performing poorly or getting CELs, get it tuned right away if that is the case. With intake, exhuast and HFC i would suggect getting a tune unless you plan on getting headers.
