There's nothing illegal about changing an intake...or modding your car for that matter. as long as it passes emissions and doesn't break any disturbing the peace law...they can't do jack dik.

I just purchased a 2008 coupe. The first change I made was to install two new K&N air filters. After reading this thread, I decided to check out the filter boxes. As mentioned, the boxes and filter's were still oily. This is after about 2000 miles. I dried off the filter's and the box and reinstalled the K&N's. I don't know if it can destroy the MAF sensor, but at least now they are not as oily. I'd keep the ones that I remove as backup's.

 

Just spoke with Infiniti about this issue. Their position is that the K&N's will eventually distroy the MAF's because of the higher air flow, not the oil. I have replaced my air filters with the OEM.
